I just downloaded it and i wanted to see how everyone is feeling about it after playing the demo!!! Will it be a big hit, will it be average, or will if flop?
Just your personal thoughts based on the demo.

I downloaded the demo yesterday and I honestly I came away very impressed. Sega has let me down with so many titles lately with the exception of Sonic All Stars Racing, Bayonetta, and After Burner Climax. This game was fast, fun, handled well, and looked pretty sweet too. I am actually excited about this game and will probally buy it at some point in time. Great game and I hope it finds a deserving audience!

Dude Platinum is making Vanquish, the same people that did Bayonetta.... They wont dissapoint!
I havnt played it yet, but im getting a Zone of the Enders / Bayonetta vibe that i very much dig. Almost makes me wish i had Gold but... nah!
it was pretty fun, two big gripes:
better controller layout, why can't i make A the button to throw me against the walls like in gears of war? (they only give two controller layouts, whoever came up with the part B is a tard, i don't know ANYONE who would want the bumper buttons to be the aim and fire buttons)
no jumping? i'm in this awesome suit that can't jump? i like the slow mo thing but it would be soooo cool if you could do it in the air john woo style.

I guess you never played a ps3 shooter lol. Anyway yeah the jumping thing i can agree with you would think but its not like jumping has been a big thing in third person shooters as of late anyway. Theres nothing wrong with making a button multi functional like the a button running and going into cover but i think they may have done it that way to shy away from being called a gears of war copy layout. Which is retarded cause now every game that goes into cover or runs for that matter is called a gears of war style game. But you never hear anyone say "oh yeah i played that new FPS last week its a halo style shooter cause you can throw gernades with the same button and switch weapons with the same button as in halo!" lol

haha after the first halo people called other FPS halo copycats. i just meant what 360 owner would want that controller layout when we have these beautiful perfect triggers on the bottom.
overall i'll wait for a price drop.
i think it is possible to jump and attack. here, watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aswf37_pQLE the first way appears to be a context sensitive button combination when in cover mode, and the second straight after a melee attack (back flip).it was pretty fun, two big gripes:

you could probably say the same for limbo and GTA4.All flash, no substance. Aside from the slick animations/evasion moves and environments, the demo felt pretty generic.

It's fun, and that's about it. Don't expect a story, character development, good voice acting, or anything like that. It's just pure, destroy everything in your path with a cover system. The graphics isn't bad but it definitely lacks polish. Resolution isn't 720p, I'll tell you that much. Which is too bad because it's a great looking game besides the resolution. A.I. really sucks. They just stick their heads out of cover so you can shoot freely. Overall, the game is too easy on Normal. It's like they catering towards casual gaming. When you're almost dying, the game puts you in slow motion automatically "to save your life" in a sense. So you could get out of impossible or near death situations. Like I said, don't expect depth. Just shoot em up fun. To the other post. I've seen a video where the main character does JUMP in mid-air and fires away with his gun(s) too. I'm sure you can unlock more special abilities further into the game. It's just a demo.Elann2008
not 720p? what resolution is it then? the PS3 version outputs at 720p in 60hz.
and i would expect depth from a platinum game. the demo appears to be quite deep, which bodes well for the finished game.
[QUOTE="just_nonplussed"][QUOTE="Doolz2024"]you could probably say the same for limbo and GTA4.Limbo and GTA IV are actually fun to play, so no. i didn't say they weren't fun. i just said that both of those games get a lot of criticism for being 'all flash and no substance', which is how you saw vanquish. All flash, no substance. Aside from the slick animations/evasion moves and environments, the demo felt pretty generic.

I honestly did not like it. The characters in the game suck so much. The gameplay is recycled. Except for the absurd knee sliding.

I just finished the whole demo and i love it! its a lot of fun its obvious that there are mixed feelings so far and i think most of that is that comes from tates in games. Anyone who thinks they have seen this b4 and theres nothing new to it most likely don't enjoy this type of game cause the one comment stateing that its recycled was way off bases for the point they were trying to make cause in that scence what game isn't recycled these days? In my own opinion they give you some really need tricks that allow you to come up with your own combos and movement. Using your slide into a melee and then into a slow mo dodge was really kool to pull off. I mean look at one of my fav. games bio-shock strip away the envierment and you have the most generic shooter of all times so much that when bio-shock 2 came out most of us enjoyed it but no where near as much as the first cause it wasn't a surprise anymore and at that point you had just the basic gameplay which could be viewed in about 50 other FPS. So yeah there are some deep similarities between Vanquish and other 3rd person shooters but its the little things that have made it fun. I don't think it will have a great story by no means nor a great cast of characters but i don't think that will stop the action from being top notch and enjoyable.
personally i don't think the story is supposed to be serious at all. i was watching a video preview on giant bomb, and they played 10mins of 'unseen footage' beyond the demo, and the dialogue is full of jokes. vanquish is almost a parody of the cliche military shooter. i think the speed and action elements clearly set this game apart from other TPSs.I just finished the whole demo and i love it! its a lot of fun its obvious that there are mixed feelings so far and i think most of that is that comes from tates in games.
