Vegas 1 as well as 2 is sublime online. No other online shooter matches it IMO. The single player seems to be much imporved from the first one as well.
While I have yet to play Ao2 yet, judging from the reviews online Vegas 2 seems to have a much higher average score. The main feature with Ao2 is co-op and Vegas's coop is pretty amazing also.
having bought both i would suggest Vegas 2, Army of 2 is good if you do indeed have an army of 2... if you intend on playing this with a mate at all times then its not too bad. Vegas rules over all though as an online and single player game.
You may be having a hard time choosing but when you put in vegas you will be stuck playing it but Army of two makes you want to turn the game off and wait untill you feel like playing it. Vegas 2 is a much better choice and to prove it I am going to play the story mode over with the same level of interest.
