my 360, which ive had only 4 months, displays this kind of strange matrix effect on the textures of my games sometimes, like gears of war suddenley goes all green and black in lines, or with halo 2 the textures are **** and look kind of static-y. any1 else had this? it gradually gets worse if you leave it, making it very hard to see whats going on in some cases. sometimes it doesnt happen at all. im annoyed as my 360 has not moved since xmas, its never been knocked over or anything, and im wondering why microsoft cant get their act together and stop releasing faulty hardware.

If what you are talking about is what happened to me, I shortly got the three red lights on my 360. I made a blog post about it with screenshots if you want to take a look.

This happened to me also, eventually after 3 restarts it came up with 3 red lights. I then found a great fix, this only works with 3 red lights though. The reason it happens, well most of the time, is because they dont use lead in the solder they use to manufacture the X360, so when your gaming and the console heats up it removes some of the solder often from the GPU area. Get a towel and wrap it completely round your X360, and leave it powered on with the towel around it for atleast 10-15 minutes till its hot, then remove the towel and leave the console to cool down, when its completely cool with any luck it should work again. This does not void the warranty either.

wow my xbox shows the checker effect as yours. like ive said before, its all in microsofts scheme to get you to either send it in and spend  over 200 dollars or just buy a new one. once you send it in they probably do something very simple to fix it.

Hope you have insurance on the system, because if not, your gonna have to buy a new one. Those are known as the death strings. They signify your xbox has croacked, so im sorry to announced but your video card has fried, you should of bought a fan, tough break buddy. Happened to me before too, got a new one cause i was insured. O well.

If you've only had your console for four months then just send it away to Microsoft because they will fix/replace it for free as it is still in warrenty. That's what I did with mine and I had it back in 5 working days.

ok guys, thanks for the help. shall try the towel trick and if that doesnt work ill just send it back. also..."you should have bought a fan"? im sorry for thinking that paying 300 quid for a next gen console would be fine without having to pay stupid amounts of money on extra peripherals just to keep the thing working :S

The Nyko cooler (the fan he's probably talking about) may well have killed your 360 even sooner...
