Alright.

Now, when ever I am done playing my xbox 360 I always turn off the power strip.

Why, you ask? Well. Simply put; I have custom CPU fans I made to help cool off my xbox. They're all connected to the same power strip, so I have to turn off the strip to turn off the fans.

But here is the deal.

Nearly EVERYTIME I cut the power from my power pack, and turn it back on, the first time I turn on my xbox 360 It does not give me video or sound. WTF is going on?

I've even plugged and un-plugged the power pack straight into the power jack into the wall. Same thing happens.

WTF?

huh, I don't know what to tell you. I have a similar setup and also experienced a glitch yesterday with it.

I use a power strip and turn it off when not in use because I have a wireless steering wheel and haven't received my retrofit for it yet, so as a precautionary measure I flip the switch off after shutting everything down.

Yesterday I had what can only be described as noise over the entire top half of my monitor (also using VGA cable). In my case I went into the dash and changed the resolution settings, it cleared right up but was definitely odd. Never had this beforechanging my setupand turning the power strip off.

Perhaps these two issues are related?

With MS electrical engineering prowess (or complete lack thereof) it wouldn't surprise me if the console needs to be plugged in for a little bit to let all the energy storage devices charge up before you turn it on. It also wouldn't surprise me that the inrush current spike when you turn on the strip is damaging the console as they might not have built in any protection against that (again, wouldn't surprise me given their track record so far this gen).

My recommendation would just be to plug you fans into a separate strip and just turn that one off, leaving the 360 plugged in. Easier to do that than try to fix your 360 right?
