usually VGA ports on laptops are so that you can view the contents of your laptop on another monitor... not the other way around. are you sure that your laptop has VGA-in, not VGA-out?

i'm pretty sure laptop-360 setups dont work. here's my advice either return the VGA cable or sell it. OR go buy a pc monitor. they're cheap nowadays.

check your manual, but more than likely it is a vga out so you can display the content on your laptop screen to a bigger monitor. You can also buy a switcher that will allow you to play your xbox through the vga out

Yessur. You can get a 19" for 180 from newegg, that is where I got mine, you could probably find it cheaper now, or go for a 21" or something.

You can prolly pick up a 22 inch for a little under $200, a good cheap brand is chei mei, just make sure you get a wide screen UXGA with 8ms or less responce time and you'll be set...
