tube computer screen? If you mean a CRT monitor, and if your monitor has any supported resolution higher than 640x480, then yes, it will be better.

Most likely, your CRT will support 1280x720, 1280x1024.

Is anybody using a computer moniter with a xbox 360 using this VGA cable? I'm thinking about getting a 360 but I don't have a TV (I'm a busy college student) let alone a HDTV. For those of you that have, how well does this setup work?

I'm using the VGA cable with my Hanns G 17in LCD monitor and I think it looks great. Much better than standard definition. :) Just make sure you get Microsoft's VGA cable and not some cheap imitation.

I've used a CRT and an LCD for the 360. Both look amazing after you enable Extended color references for VGA in display settings.

Currently, I'm using an LCD for my 360 and PS3.

It works a lot better on a widescreen monitor. Some games don't support 4:3 over the VGA cable it seems. For example PGR3 was all stretched out on my 4:3 monitor, it was pretty much unplayable. Others just add black bars which is fine. The widescreen works much better though.

Not necessarily. CRT's are essentially Tube displays. They display HD just fine.

*edit* I get the feeling I'm misunderstanding your post though...

I tried out both on my Samsung LN-T4066f (1080p 40" LCD). While the VGA cable had a much clearer and more detailed picture, the colors were terribly muted compared to component. So until I upgrade to an elite or premium with HDMI I prefer the component cables running at 720p. Tried out running them at 1080p but didn't like the way it upscaled - a bit blurry.
