Hey Guys! I just got a Westinghouse 22" LCM22W3 @ Target and I got a VGA cable to use it for my xbox. I put in the 15-pin part in and of course it displays on screen. However, the resoultion is only 640x480?! The monitor supports up to 1680x1050 and doesn't the xbox support higher than that? I tried changing it by auto adjusting or w/e they told me to do in the owner's manual but it didn't change anything. Can any computer experts help me on this?

Also, the monitor has built-in speakers and so it has one input for audio - so which, if any, of the VGA sound cables do I put in (red or white)? I already tried both but I didn't hear anything. I bet I'm doing something wrong because I'm not a computer person. So if anyone could PLEASE help me out, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks.

You have to go into your xbox's preferences and select a higher resolution manually as otherwise, it will be set at 480p by default.

Oh and about your sound, I recommend you plug it into a seperate computer sound system with an cable adaptor (going from white and red cables to a single stereo mini jack).

Thanks for your help guys. The resolution thing worked. But what should I choose as my resolution now that is closest to 1680x1050? I'm guessing 1360x768 because the 1920x1080 is one step up and it is obviously out of range...And thanks for the help on the sound stuff. I will change to an exterior speaker system. But I don't get wat you mean. Do u mean I HAVE to plug in the white/red cords to a computer? What if I just have external speakers? That won't work?

as for the sound.

if you buy a speaker system like a 5.1 chanel logitech x530 it comes with an adapter for you to plug inyour red and white rca plugs that come from console.

as for the sound on your tv. it may be a setting in the tv that needs to be changed to enable sound via input. if you have tried both the red and white plug, you should get sound. when you do get sound on it. you can then buy a stereo to mono adapter cable so that you can plug both audio plugs into.

it is strange that this hasnt got 2 rca audio inputs. are you sure that it is infact an audio input and not another video input?

Yea it says AUDIO INPUT on the connection. But it actually doesn't fit for the white and red RCA connectors. It is for regualr stereo speaker stuff. And it is an LCD computer monitor, not a tv so I don't think it would have a video input. Idk, thanks for the help though, I'll look into that speaker thing u told me about.

Did you get the offical Microsoft VGA cables? If you did, they come with an audio adapter that turns the red/white audio plugs into the 1/8" audio plug your monitor takes.

If you didn't, just head up to any Radio Shack and ask for this:

RCA to 1/8" adapter

Yeah, just check your monitor's native resolution and set your 360's rez to that and your good to go. My 360's set up to the monitor I'm using right now. I've got the sound plugged into a surround sound system. Pretty bad-ass. ;P

1360 x 768 is the highest resolution that works in ur monitor, if u go to 1920 x 1080 the image wont be complete and it will be huge for ur monitor so ull see probably like 3/4 of the screen, use 1360 x 768 thats the one i use for a 1440 x 900 monitor's native resolution
