does anyone have this tv? if so does it run 1080p through the component video cords? i called vizio and they assured me that HDMI was not nessassary for a 1080p picture. im talking games because i know that security reasons limits hd dvds to either hdmi or vga for 1080p. any input?

Ok, you do not get true 1080p without hdmi. Component and vga are analog sources, so all it will do is upcomvert. You will still get a great picture, but just not true 1080p. Just save your money and get a tv that does not upconvert.

No it does not,you are not getting "TRUE" 1080p without the HDMI,you are getting great HD video just not a"TRUE" progessive scan picture. HDMI is the standard hook up in order to get a 1080p picture. On the flip side you wouldn't beable to tell the difference with the naked eye anyways.

Component is an Analog signal, hdmi is digital. Like I wrote before it is an upcomverted signal. You do get a form of 1080p just not pure digital form. You can play 360 games in a true 1080p format, just not movies. Your Hd-dvd's and blue ray movies will be upcomverted. I almost baught a tv until I found this out. Most tv's upconvert, but more are using hdmi. My Sony XSRD is true 1080p. It cost more than some of the lcd's I was looking at, but the picture is amazing. Actually until recently most of the dlp's were upcomverting. Go do a search through google and see what you find out.

I just got a 32 vizio for my room and it has 2 hdmi ports with HDcp. It's pretty weird the 42 you're talking about doesn't have hdmi, unless we're talking about a really old tv. I would recommend considering another tv, becuase I would prefer hdmi and 1080i over no HDMI and 1080p.

wait, it has to have HDMI inputs. I bought my 42 in. 720p/1080i vizio before they had the 1080p one. They wouldn't drop the HDMI inputs.
