So if there is added content they can add 250 points? So does that mean say the add 4 items, they can add 1K extra points, or just 250 in total?

It's 250 points total, so no game can have more than 1250 archivement points.

For now anyway - I think if a game can support multiple expansions - you might see that turned to 250 per expansion.

I'm sure they'll eventually open the flood gates on adding achievement points to existing games; that essentially gives developers carte blanche to ensure that people keep playing their games. I'm sure we all have a game or two on the shelf that we haven't played in quite a while; now, imagine if all of the sudden there's not only downloadable content for it, but another 500 achievement point to be had for it! The Achievements system is really pretty ingenious; whether your an achievement nut or not, I think we all take a little notice and pride when ever we get the "bloop-boop."

I told my friend once, before I had my 360, "I'm not going to get into those achievement things..." and he said, "trust me you will, I said the same thing."  Many times I find myself playing for the achievements, rather than the game.  Like in Gears, I speant much time hunting down the last cog tag (like a dog tag) but I finally found it.
