"Based on the timing of the Warner Home Video announcement today, the HD DVD Promotional Group has decided to cancel 1:1 press meetings at CES, in addition to the press conference that was scheduled for Sunday evening. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause…"
As much as I dislike MS, this isnt about the platforms anymore its about getting this stupid war over and done with so we can all get some cheap plentiful HD action. teebeenz
The format war made Blu-ray and HD-DVD cheaper. Now that Blu-ray may monopolise the industry in the years to come, say goodbye to cheap prices. Especially a format from a greedy company like Sony.

DVD was not owned by a single company, it was a more open standard. Blu-ray on the other hand is owned by a greedy company. Its not exactly as open as DVD was.

400 companies but Sony is the leader. And they can make all the decisiones they want.

Toshiba made HD-DVD, not MS.

There are 250 companies, that are lead by board of directors with 18 seats... Sony is only one of 18 powerful corporations leading the "Blu-ray Disc Association"... Waner Bros is only 1 company... there are still 195 member companies of the "DVD Forum" which owns HDDVD...

No, people think of Sony with Blu-ray because Sony developed the format.

I'm not fighting... I was responding to the guy that was saying Sony owned Blu-ray DVD...
And WB is only doing it because of the delicious DRM [ /sarcasm ] that BluRay has innately compared to the much more reasonable HD-DVD DRM.codezer0Both BD and HDDVD use the same base DRM, but BD does have an additional layer if a company wants to use it. Its all been broken so its about as pointless as CSS, but hey, companies got a right to protect their stuff just like everyone else.
And what about all those movies that got dick for extras like 300 on BluRay compared to 300 (HD-DVD) ? This just gives WB an excuse to re-release the same movie all over again to include the extras that BluRay can't handle.codezer0You mean 'couldnt' handle. The extras thing was fixed with 1.1, and will be augmented with 2.0 even further.
It's also incredibly ridiculous that BluRay marketing hypes up the extra storage space that BD discs have when there ain't a damned movie on the market actually making use of it, where there are HD-DVD's which pack in a metric **** load of stuff that you wouldn't think would fit, but does.codezer0DVD didnt look all that hot to start with either. Takes a while for everyone to get upto speed and for encoders to mature. HDDVD is having issues with storage, many HDDVD titles lack an HD audio track because of space limitations.
The HD-DVD group needs to step things up if they want to win this already.codezer0HDDVD lost the day BD came out.
Damn it, Damn it, damn it!  I don't want to pay $3000 before getting a freaking player that works! And that's exactly what will happen with BluRay because Sony can't make a reliable product to save their lives.
