I'm not dissing anyone here, honest. This question specifically applies to me, as the sole reason of getting a next gen console involved it being on my budget and on the market at the time (No store had the annoying Wii, annoying being I looked in 15 stores before giving up), as less family friendly and leaning more on the mature side. Now I realized too late what a mistake that was, as the xbox 360 involves 2 genres which I hate the most; racing and shooting.

I am not saying there's anything wrong with those brands, it's just that I personally don't like shooting nor racing. I'm sure there are the same share of people who don't like RPG, fighting, or, in my mom's case games that "involve the devil." I'm holding out with Ultimate Alliance, Street of Rage 2, and Eternal Sonata, but if DMC4 (just cause mom hates it don't mean I should) and Ninja Gaiden 2 don't make a big success, then by all means, goodbye xbox 360

i would give it another chance with oblivion, DOA, Virtua fighter and upcomming games like Fable2 GTAIV and stuff like that. I feel you tho. buying a new console and games involves alot of money. so if you think you made the wrong choice, Id recommend selling it now. there is no point owning a console you dont like. and the longer you wait, the less money youll get for it.

I love my 360 and I don't like racing or console shooters either. Try Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Mass Effect, Dead Rising, and the games on Xbox Live. I played Uno last night for an hour. Even though Gears of War is a shooter you might give it alook. In a lot of ways it played more like an action game to me. I borrowed a buddies and end up finishing it.

Did I miss something? There are plenty of games for 360 that are neither racing nor shooters. Just because those are the popular genres doesn't mean there isn't something on the market for you too. Download some demos and see what fits your style.

I didn't say that there aren't any games that aren't racing nor shooter. What I said was that the xbox 360 is mainly based on racing or shooting. What's my evidence? the only game that received an editor's review that did not include those two genres was puzzle quest.

Yes there are a lot of shooters but that doesn't stop you from buying the other games from different genres. I like my FPS and Racing and you could say I'm biased but then again, I also play RPG's, Fighter's, Action/Adventure etc. There's not really that much I don't like and I find the 360 has a plentiful library that I'm satisfied with. The catologue of games will only increase as the console ages so I doubt that you'll be 'stuck' for games.

I took a look at your profile to try and get a better understanding of your tastes. I couldn't help but notice that you gave Forza 2 a score of 10.0. Why would you give that game a 10.0 if you hate racing games? :?

Thats why you shell out a few extra hundred bucks and get another console. Personally I got all 3, the Wii being the least amount of fun IMO.. but I wouldn't toss my 360 away because as cliche as it may sound "shooters feel right" with the 360 controller rather then the PS3 controller.

ll give u my oppinion. The xbox 360 has plenty to offer. u can get Mass Effect, Oblivion, Kameo,Assassins Creed, Two Worlds, Rock Band, Guitar Hero....MOst of these games have been in the gamespot top ten lately, or a while ago. But if u were to return the console. u wouldnt get loads of money, and wat would u buy? A PS3..ud be stuck in the same situation. lots of shootinng and racing, and a few action adventures....Or u could get the wii....which IMO sucks.......there are a couple good games. mario strikers charged. supermario galaxy, and the soon to come super smash bros. brawl.....but thats like the same ammount of games u could play on the xbox.

I would think that's someone who's involved with racing. Like how a cultist is involved with a cult.

I'm not big on the whloe shooter thing either, so I rejected Bioshock (big mistake) and got Mass Effect (also a big mistake, I don't like it much even though a lot of people do -- sorry if I've scarred you for life, but that's just my opinion).

Anyway, so after a good 10 hours with Mass Effect, I decided to go and rent Bioshock, which I love. So yeah, on your not likeing shooters, give Bioshock a try (the demo's free). The story's amazing , as is the atmosphere and the entire game in general.

Sorry if that was unnecessarily long.

I could guess what you and everyone else is saying. This is just a next gen console, as well as the other two. Weighting your logical opinions (excluding the wisecrack despicable people, who don't respect other's opinion, even when it's not insulting) maybe I should keep the system. Besides, the xbox live'sprogram is intriguing at best, fun at worst. Thank you very much for your opinions.

When I bought my Xbox360 I wasn't planning on playing either shooters or Racing games on it. I lioke both those genres but much prefer to play them with my mouse/keyobard and racing wheel setup on my computer. What made me want to get the XBox was the other great games like Assassins Creed, Ultimate Alliance and Mass Effect. But I discovered that the Shooter "The Darkness" was actually quite fun and although I still hate the gamepad as a shooter controller I've managed to adapt to it well enough to get through the game.

Ulitmately though I guess I don't have much sympathy for the original poster as he obviously didn't do much research before blindly spending his money.

I don't want symphaty, nor was I whining, just asking for everyone's opinion on whether to sell the 360 or not. I do take your point correctly though, I should've done research. Now I learned not to do something just cause everyone else does, although the 360 didn't turn out to be that bad. This goes to everyone as well: don't do things just cause everyone does it. Use your brain rather than blend in with the crowd

Don't give up on it untill you've tried the Xbox Live experience. Even if you don't want to pay for the gold the silver membership gives you access to dozens of demos and cheap "arcade" games you can download. If you've got a internet capable computer nearby just connect the XBox to it and you can connect to the internet real easy.

I've bought a couple of the arcarde games already and enjoy them quite a bit. And I agree with some of the other people you should download demos for Kameo and some of the RPGs before deciding there isn't anything you want to play.

man, I love the xbox live experience. I get to talk to hot girls playing Marvel Ultimate alliance with me like if we were talking on the phone. Too bad most of the ones I played with are commited or married, but one will pop up for some Benjamin loving

I feel you too, I bought Street of Rage2. I used to love that game when I was a kid. I can't wait for some of the other titles I used to play to show up, such as sonic and knuckles for sega and xmen for sega saturn. That is, if they show up, but one can only hope

You should know there are tons of great games on the 360 that aren't shooters or racing games. You should try OBLIVION, Mass Effect, Dead Rising, Crackdown, Assassin's Creed, and do some research to find some other games you might like. BTW in the future you should do a little research before making a big purchase like a console. It seems like you kinda just bought a 360 cause you couldn't buy a Wii. I could be wrong, but that's the vib I got from your post.

wow, love your skeptical mind, and you guessed right, I did. I finally got a credit card and couldn't wait to buy the wii with it (I work, but I do pay bills, so I can't buy a 360 just like that), I got so frustrated, I decided "screw nintendo." With NYC's cold, you would get frustrated when you finally can get something, only to find that it's out of your reach. Nice guess lmao
