The game has been in development for so long and now that its 729p on xbox one has me worried for the entire gen to come. If watch dogs has such a shitty resolution then GTA6 and bigger games will struggle this entire gen to look good.

Dude the PS4 version is only 900p. So will that worry you too? Devs are going to learn how to improve on things like they have been doing for many gens. DX 12 and cloud computing in the future are the things that are going to help the Xbox One improve.
BTW - It's 792p.
@xhawk27: dx12 isn't going to give the xbox more horsepower. They will get better at optimizing the systems resources. let's not kid our selves the ps4 will always outpace the xbox 1, it has 50% more horsepower and doesn't have to run 3 operating systems at once. It's just a better game machine power wise, the xbox 1 is trying to be a all in one system with its gpu and system resources taking a hit.

yes this is true....devs have said that the xbox one has way too much of its power tied up in the other entertainment options, from the beginning the xbox one set out to be an all in one entertainment box, so they spread their resources across the board, not focusing on games power.
Is it really all about Graphics for you ?
a next gen console shouldn't struggle to do 720p.
@PS4hasNOgames
It doesn't. It can run Child of Light in 1080p just fine. ;)
Happy ?
so can my calculator
@PS4hasNOgames
then get a gaming PC
na i hate pc gaming, something about consoles makes gaming more fun.
So is all this confirmed? Sorry I haven't really been paying attention to the Watch Dogs resolution war. So let me get this straight Xbox One will run at 792p and PS4 at 900p? Eh I can live with that, I just hope this game turns out to be great.
since its also 900p on Xbox one , i'm not not worried
That's not the case. It would be nice if that was true, but it's not true what you said.
900p on PS4, 792p on Xbone according to Ubisoft themselves.

There you have it. I'm not sure where you got your incorrect information from, but this is from Ubisoft themselves. This will maybe help you decide on which machine to buy it or whatever. I tracked down the link for you.
@SolidTy: sorry that was just a mistake . i wanted to say 900p on PS4 . but i said xbox one i dunno why .
edited it .

Oh, lol. Man, could have saved me a lot of time looking that up as you almost fooled me, lol.
Oh well, now I officially know the answer.
TBH, the TC should have put the link in the OP because I can see others are confused.

Oh wow, a whole 108p difference. Enjoy that I guess. lol

I'm not even buying the game so I won't enjoy that difference nor care. I don't like Ubisoft much (other than Ancel games).
I simply corrected him and he let me know his mistake wasn't intentional. I'm not sure why you commented though as it's all apparent right there.
The games still going to look fantastic, honestly I wouldn't worry about these "Numbers" (As the Developers have said) and just judge the game yourself when you play it.
Don't want any console wars bs just saying that the PS4 version isn't much better off at 900p. Really if you demand 60FPS and 1080p resolution you should be gaming on a PC.
If graphics are all that you look for in a game then why are you even gaming on consoles?
I have four gaming PCs, but I can answer one part. I game on consoles because I value the ability to FREELY (no DRM) sell, trade, borrow, lend, rent, and collect my games. I use my gaming PCs and my Gaming uber rig for exclusives. Graphics are important to me, but graphics concerns COME IN SECOND to my primary concern with DRM I find in DD console and PC games. If I hate a console physical game, I can sell it or gift it. I can lend out my favorite games to trusted relatives. I can trade my games with friends. I can't do this with my PC games due to DRM. I have a giant PC library and as I scroll through my Origin, Steam, GOG, Blizzard, and other accounts I know I can't sell any of those games. I have hundreds of them and they are all STUCK on my account.
I won't go chasing after graphics if it means I lose the ability to sell, trade, borrow, lend, rent, and collect my games freely. I'm a gaming historian and collector. I also cherish many of my games dating back to Atari 2600 to Xbox 360. After the DRM concern is licked, I then look at performance between the consoles to make my choice.
This is why I don't EVER buy DD console games if their is a retail, physical alternative.
All this said, I'm not even interested in Ubisoft products or Watchdogs, but I felt you deserved an answer on why someone (there are probably millions like me) would look at the consoles (Wii U, Xbone, PS4) and try to buy the best graphical version on console instead of their gaming PCs. We don't want to give up our consumer rights and value are games, and want to pass our games on to our children.
I love PC gaming, but for exclusives like MMOs or RTS games.
I am not concerned because this systems have not been out a year. As systems age, the games get better looking. There is something that we all need to ask ourselves; will the game play be any different on Xbox One than PS4? The answer is no. If the power that the Xbox One has starts to effects game play then you have something the worry about. No matter what system you get It on, you will have the same game play.
There is concerns about 1080p since with time, new games will become more demending, and if devs have to cut somewhere, they will sure cut on the resolution. I am pretty much expecting 720p to be the norm again in 5 years.
As for the 769p on X1, right now, blame it on the Esram. That's pretty much the max resolution it can contain for most devs at the moment.
DX12 is a game changer, the problem you have now is Direct X is so inefficient, Mantle exposed that, on the extreme end of things it improved FPS in BF4 by 60%. Apparently DX12 is doing similar things and obviously a 60% increase in performance is the difference between 720p and 1080p and even 30FPS vs 60FPS.
Now I'm not really sure how much impact it'll have on the Xbox One compared to the PC, but any improvement is a welcomed one. You can have the most powerful hardware in the world, but at the end of the day the software is what is important. We will see games running at 1080p on the Xbox One, the APIs will improve, the usage of the ESram will get better and hopefully Windows 8 running in the background of the Xbox One will get better too, right now the load times are terrible.

Don't expect the load times to get better.
The consoles are equiped with 5400rpm drives. If you'd propose that to a PC gamer, he would start laughing. The luxury for loading times is having your games on an SSD, but since that really is a luxury, a 7200rpm drive should have been the minimum, sadly, replacing the drive in both the X1 and PS4 won't change a thing since the consoles aren't capable to use the extra speed of the HDD.
I just assume that means that it's a pretty beastly title if neither machine can run it properly. That or not enough time/resources to better optimize.

Yes but 1. external storage and 2. PS4 load times are way faster and have a 5400rpm HDD.
5400rpms HDDs do around 60MBps, I can only think that the PS4 uses less bandwidth of that than the Xbox One. 7200rpm HDDs over USB 3.0 can do 180MBps from my own personal usage and USB 3.0 can deliver faster, the average SSD people buy only delivers 250MBps, they always advertise 500, but actual results are normally half. So a single USB 3.0 HDD can be a game changer,
Don't be worried little pup, the beauty with xbox one is the exclusives that bring online fun with friends. its a blast playing dead rising 3 with a friend, slashing and mashing in ryse or racing in forza. the one thing i love about microsft is that they focus with online features that give their games replay value .
the difference in resolutions hasn't affected me yet. What does affect me is whether Microsoft comes out with game-changing exclusives like they did with the Xbox and Xbox 360(Halo, Gears of War)
Nah its all about the games. I went with MS again because I love the exclusives. I figured with the PS4 at a cheaper price at launch I can pick one up easily at a later date at a low price when its bundled with some software that actually interests me. I think writing off the impact of DX12 and the impact of the cloud is a little premature. I hope its something they deliver at E3 showing tangible results but still I will not right it off as an impossibility until I have been shown otherwise.
The good things about having a MS console this gen is the fact that they have a fight on their hands. Its better for consumers this way. Sony have a history of complacency and it could come back to bite them.
My primary concern with these games is that they run smoothly and consistently. Ryse gave me faith that the X1 is a capable machine despite the game being hit and miss. Im very excited for the future of the Xbone.
