Ways to quiet the Xbox?

I just got my xbox back for the seventh time ( I heard the sevenths a charm =D ) and it's been running fine except for the fact that now it is LOUD. I'm not talking like a little loud ( the 360 is a bit loud by default, well all mine have been). Whenever I put a disk in the console, it is so loud that i have to turn my tv up to 85 ( out of 100) just to drown out the noise.

Anyone know any ways to quiet it ( while it's RUNNING ) ?

i figured my xbox 360 was hungry and thats why it was being loud, so i fed it honey bunches of oats. :? no wonder it dosent work.

no but seriously, if you clean it, its less likely to get hot, which could be the main reason its loud

I had a problem like that a few times.

The first time, I just shut it off for a few hours, then worked fine.

The second time I found out that it was vibrating or whatever on my table and THAT was making the noise.

I dunno, maybe check that out....

Take the fans out of the case- but it won't live long. What is the build date on yours? My replacement from MS was a Nov. 07 and it's been relatively quiet. My mom still thought it was an AC unit when I brought it to the parental's house for the first time though. What a piece :/

Because it is a 360 eventually it will red ring and you can get a new one, and maybe it'll be quieter.

Sometime mine is quiet and sometimes it is really loud. Its random with mine. A friend of mine his 360 sounds like an apache helicopter trying to take off, its this loud god awful whirring noise that is actually louder than the TV sometimes and its been that way for a year.Ket87

lol thanks for the laugh. My 360 is the loudest piece of equipment in the house. Crazy that M$ not only built an extremely faulty system..but the loudest one at that.

Like the kid who made the news for putting his 360 in a bag and then putting it in a tub of water after taking some ones advice to cool it down. Not every one on this forum is as "sharp" as your self.

There is a simple way to quiet it.....when you press the power button to turn it on......

press it again......notice how quiet it is now! 8)

the 360 really is a faulty machine
