Well it looks like there are hackers in Borderlands now.

So after joining a normal game I helped two guys defeat a boss. It was the mine gate key mission which I already did so I left shortly after beating the boss but before I left he said something strange. He asked if I had a mod on my character which I did so I just said "Yes I do but it only helps me" because I thought he wanted to know if it helped the team but guess what I found out in the next game? My mod was gone and I never even opened up the inventory while in the game. So unless it was a strange glitch that made me drop it the guy must have been a hacker.

Has anyone else lost something or had something like this happen? By the way I never even used the stores so what happened to it and why would he ask that?

Funny you mention this; my friend and I typically play just the two of us. We are really good about sharing loot and hate randoms--loot hogging whores. Well, we decided to let a couple people in. Everything was fine, but when one of them left, my buddies best sniper he had equipped was gone????????? No idea how.....

Anyways, we've started duplicating our most powerful weapons to prevent this from screwing us over. One of us simply enters the game, throw out our best weapons and then leave by entering the dashboard--thus preventing us from saving the game. Now when my buddy comes back, he has all of the weapons he originally threw out and all of the weapons on the ground are still there. No more crappy hackers taking our weapons without a replacement.......

I don't think I'm going to play with randoms anymore until they stop the hacking. I can always dupe which is what I will more than likely do if I find anything awesome. Luckily I'm on my second playthrough so I should be able to buy the mod that I had or a similar one. I'm not sure why he took it though since it was an average mod but I guess he's just a ****.

This has never happened to me and I doubt that it ever will. Hackers that can just automatically attack your profile with no word of warning seem rare with the protection that is coded into games created in the past few years. I doubt this will happen much, but if word gets out, people will start blaming hacking for some of the things in the game that makes no sense. Something happens, it's only natural for a gamer to scream "HAX." I hope this story doesn't snowball into children trying to blame their own miniscule skill level on hackers in game. Either way, I believe that if their is a hacker problem in said game, it will more likely than not be patched within a few days. It's unlikely that the developers will let their new release be plagued by such a parasite.

I was reading the GameFaq forum and this guy played with someone that was a level 1000. Lol. They're there alright.

Class Mods disappearing is a known glitch.it happened to my friend when we were playing co-op together, and then it randomly re-appeared in his inventory later.

Hopefully that is what happened but how did he know I was missing it? When the glitch happens does it just simply make you drop it?

Maybe you held the x button by accident on a class mod on the floor, which may have made you drop yours on the ground. That's happened to me.

I only picked up two weapons and my inventory had around 17 spare slots so I doubt that happened.

There was a high level player in my game just a few days after release. I don't know how high of level he was because the numbers next to his name were glitched. I booted him right away...

This has NOTHING to do with "hackers" Me and my 2 friends were in a PRIVATE game and our mods were invisible but still there. Later our other friend got on and also made a private game, and when me and my friends joined his both of us had our shields and mods gone. This is just a random glitch that happens quite a bit.
