Honeslty, we rock. Don't think I'm discluding you Europers, you are westerners too.

I say this because we simply make the greatest consoles, and by FAR the greatest games. Look at all of the great Western style games that have come out in the last decade. We made Halo, The Elder Scrolls, Gears Of War, Command And Conquer, World Of Warcraft, The Total War series... the list just goes on.

We are cool. If you think this way too, give yourself a pat on the back. Understand that I (and hopefully you too) wouldn't trade our culture and its love of shooting and cutting things up for anything.

I wouldn't underestimate japanese games, because they are fun game.

But GTA, HALO, GOW, splinter cell so much fun game then japanese games.

I completely agree. It's people like this that make the PS3 fanboys hate us so much.  I mean we wouldn't even be PLAYING video games right now if the NES was never released.  It's like saying that Bill Gates sucks when you probobly wouldn't own a computer if it weren't for him.  TC you've shown us these games that prove that the Americans, Canadians, and Europeans are better when think about this...

What about Ocarina of Time? Soul Calibur? Super Mario?  Several years from now Nintendo may have the greatest console and what will you be saying? How horrible the westerners have become with the gaming industry? So hipocritical.

 I will agree with you that Japanese style games suck, but don't get too attached to the  killing that u guys love so much (but I really shouldn't be talking, since Halo and GoW both rock...:roll:

I'm a westerner and am in no way proud of the incredible amount of ignorance and general stupidity that is expressed by a great many... well westerners. And as such I am not impressed by this thread. Sure we produce some good games, just as all other regions, but we also saturate the market with far too many games based on guns and a lack of intelligence.

The "them versus me" mentality is really getting old. Stop trying to ally yourself with a group of people just so you can affirm your own self worth. Why can't you accept the fact that good games are produced by certain individuals and/or teams of people, regardless of region.

wow this guy has the hole north american mentality down pat. honestly, i'm not trying to ally myself w/ a certain groupe of ppl, but i hate north america and the frist chance i get, i'm going to get on a plane and live and work in japan, because of the simple lil things involving everyday life like the incrediable amount of respect that seems to be in the air all around you.

this guy isn't racist, calm down idiots.  he's simply saying that he thinks games influenced by, and created in western cultures are better than eastern (dominated by japan) games.  so he thinks shooters are better than turn based rpgs, big deal.  there is no racism.  people need to realize there is a difference between being racist and prideful.  the original poster had no racism, just pride in his post.

Japan has gotten complacent. They used to be great, but many japanese studios are pumping out mediocre games. Another issue with japanese games is the story writing. They often have strange themes and endings.

But one thing that they have done quite well is character development. I also like the art design. I would just like to see some innovation in JRPGs. But I will still buy them, regardless.

He only stated the truth. He also meant it as friendly competition between nations. Japan is not competing at the same level, now. It's similar to what happened to the U.S. auto industry in the 80s. The U.S. got complacent about making good cars and Japan showed us how pathetic we were. Now, western developers are leading the way in video games.
