Halo 3 is a must have imo. That said, you should look at Mass Effect if you are into RPGs, Bioshock is certianly a really cool story and a fun gameplay experience, Rock Band is an amazing game if your into the whole music thin (I acutally wasnt but the game is really five-star quality) and Gears of War is certianly the classic 360 must have game.

Halo 3 and Assassins Creed are 2007's most disappointing games imo, get COD4 and MassEffect but hey if you really wanna throw away $130, thats your choice.
Don't get Assassins Creed, it gets way too repetitive. Instead if you have online grab Halo 3 or COD 4 and with either of those get The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion or Mass Effect. That way you'll have great replayability and strong value in terms of graphics/sound and quality.
Call of Duty 4 and MADDEN 08.. if you dont like sports games get Gears Of War instead... all noobs to the 360 shoudl start with gears of war or rainbow six vegas or some game like that

i already own COD4 i might consider mass effect...........
I was just in the same position - but I also owned a 360 bout a year ago and sold it. So I got COD4 and Assassins Creed. I prefer live play over SP, but the reviews (written & video) of AC pushed me to do that whenever there might be issues with Live or my internet connection. I wouldnt suggest GoW- I think its a fun game, dont get me wrong, but it has been out for over a year, and it had limited replay value IMO. AC doesnt look to have any replay value after you beat it, and will definitely be what I turn in towards Frontlines: Fuel of War.
