What are the best Action/Shooter for single player (aside from CoD4, Halo 3)???

I am looking for some good Action/Shooter/FPS games to get on Gamefly with solid single player experiences. I am looking for fun games, and also games that are a little longer (not but necessary). What are some good choices? How many hours is the single player for the games you recommend? Some games I'm thinking of include Orange Box, Army of Two, Gears of War etc...

I'm thinking about trying this game out. How scary is it? I'm not a huge fan of the survival horror genre. Based on that, that is why I've been hesitant to try FEAR and The Darkness.

Army of Two, but I recommend Bioshock, Mass Effect and The Orange Box.

The Darkness isn't scary at all. FEAR is also not really a survival horror game, yes it has scary elements but it's not that bad.

Rainbow Six Vegas is incredible, as are both GRAW and GRAW2 (though GRAW2 is a bit short).

GRAW and Rainbow Six in particular are penty long (but not too punishing) when played on the highest difficulty, and with the option to do terrorist hunt Rainbow Six will keep you playing single player long after the campaign ends.
