They don't think video games are sports. :|
However, there's a competitive aspect to it, thus they play it competitively at tournaments. Why are you guys so judgmental like your perfect?
Competitive gaming was labeled as an e-sport WAY before MLG so why does EVERYONE target MLG for? Is it because you get owned by some stupid little MLG posers who think they're part of our community because they have an MLG gamerpic, so in turn you think everyone in MLG is a douchebag who plays video games 24/7?
That seems to be the case with most people. They base an entire community off of one poser.
I played FPS games competitively on the PC for almost 12 years so I have nothing against playing in clans but it seems the mentality of a big chunk of the MLG community is that of a 12 year old. This could also be that most of the MLG community is made up of kids around that age. The difference in competitive PC gaming vs console gaming is so huge that it is crazy.
Meh, I never got into it. It felt as if every single "MLG" person I ran into sucked serious... But in all seriousness I did play Call of Duty 4 Competitively for a time. I tried Gamebattles (I know... I know... i don't wanna hear it) and boy did it suck. Not only did we win every single clan, or whatever it is they call their groups, but they all declared us as the losers. So much for sportsmanship. I stopped after 20 groups declared a victory over us.
I dont mind MLG. Its just the majority of MLG players I've run into have been immature kids.

I completly agree i mean its cool to have a copetitive gaming community but i used to be really really into MLG with Halo and as i look back on it most people were No life immature jerks that talked crap did nothing but play halo and practice there BR and never enjoyed the game they jsut yelled and screamed and complained and whined. I had this one guy on my freinds list that stopped inviting me to his games cuz i out BR'd him and he happened to play like 8 hours everyday and he never went pro. I stopped that crap becasue I got tired of being upset or not enjoying games. So i guess you can still consider me a Hard core gamer just not at that freakish MLG no life level.
I don't see the point in it myself. Games should be for enjoyment. I feel that as soon as you turn them into some sort of competitive sport then that enjoyment is gone, and the games are played purely to find out who is the best at them. Call me old fashioned, but I don't see any fun in that.X-ColdRush-XIs this how you feel about Basketball, Baseball and Football? Not that I consider gaming a physical sport, but they all promote competition in addition to the fun and enjoyment of playing them.

I agree. Plus, they have huge poker tournaments and stuff like that and personally, I think it takes more skill to play a video game than play poker. You do have to know stuff with poker but it's still more luck of the draw as opposed to being good at aiming or picking the right person to pass to (football game).
Doesn't matter to me I play games not watch others play them.. I have never seen an MLG contest or know any of the people that play in them.
I don't think people consider it a sport. I don't. But hey, if you're good enough to play professionally and get paid to do it. Why not? I know I'd love to have that job.
