the component cables that came with the xbox is the best you can do. that is assuming you have component hookups on the tv.

What cables did that come with?

Can I buy better ones?

Your first mistake was buying the core. You really need the hard drive. You are probably going to spend more money in the long run. If your tv accepts Component, then go with Component.

are the cables that go into your tv from the xbox red, blue, green, red, and white or are they just red, white and yellow. so...5 cords or 3? if 3, does your tv have the red, blue, and green hookups just waiting for cables? if so, go buy xbox component cables. if not, you're doing the best you can already, which isnt that good.

The core comes with composite cables. That is a (yellow) for video. And also a red and a white for the audio. This is the worst possible video quality on can get. The next level up is are the component cables. These cables come standard with the premium package. These are a red, blue and green cable just for the video with also the left and right for the audio. A total of five ends. Just check your tv and see if it has a video in with a red, blue and green input.

so, you need to get the xbox component cable that comes with the premium package. component video is the red green and blue, and is better than just the yellow you have right now.

should be noticeable. wont be night and day, but worth the 20-30 bucks imo.

oh, and the new cable would be really great if your tv had progressive scan. you'll have to find that out somehow, but if it does, then you'll be able to set your xbox at 480p, which is a pretty big improvement over your current 480i.
