I've had my Xbox 360 since December of 2006 and I've been experiencing freezing issues during gameplay. Does anyone know what really causes this? It's really irritating because I can't have 2-3 hours of gameplay without the screen freezing. I know it's not overheating or ventilation issues because my 360 has A LOT of room to breathe in and I don't play it that much. Do scratched game discs have something to do with freezing issues? How about things that are stored in your HDD, like demos, trailers, music, etc? So, does anyone have a theory on why the Xbox 360 freezes during gameplay?

I bought my xbox360 on launch date  and it started freezing a few months ago...a couple days ago it crapped out and gave me 3 red lights of death so your xbox360 could be dieing.

TIMELINE

Dec25,2005-Got to play my xbox360
October3rd,2006 -Freezing starts to happen juring demos, games
December12th,2006-Phone up xbox and they say it might be the hard drive
Dec20-20th,2006- We receive the new hard drive but the console still has freezing issues
Febuarey22nd,2007 Console freezes then showes 3 red lights

...your xbox360 could be next...how long have you had it for??? Because it could crap out pretty soon

freezing issues are caused by two things, here is how to resolve them

1. make sure you power supply is plugged stait into a wall.

2. you power supply, there is a big fat part on the wire of the power supply(its black and made of plastic and its a rectangular cube) put it on a box with no lid, do there is nothing touching the bottom if the powersupply, just leave it liing on the edges of a box so air can get beneath it.

Good luck with it. But if it doesnt work make sure you demand a new one before your warranty goes...i learned the hard way and ended up having to pay 60$

Do you think it could be my power supply causing the problems? I have it plugged into a power surge with multiple outlets. It isn't plugged straight into the wall. Also, my power supply is sort of dusty. Is this the problem?
