A lot of people ragged on it but I liked it personally. I bought it for the 360 only knowing what I knew from Farcry 1 and I think it made a change for the better. It's one of my favorites to play online.
there's way, way, way too much driving. then every once in a while there's a guard post with a few enemies there to interrupt your driving. then your car gets wrecked beyond repair in the firefight and you have to walk all the way to your destination unless you find another car. FC2's a decent game. it's fun shooting people and there's finally another developer that's getting off its ass and making a free-roaming FPS, but the pacing is a little off and it's tedious getting from point A to point B in this game.
I thought it was OK. But there was sooooo much driving around which just got boring after a while. That, coupled with endlessly respawning guards, made the whole thing so repetitive and frustrating.
i really tried to like this game. i played it for 20hrs. and in the end i traded it for GHWT. this game would have been better with a fast travel option like Fallout 3.
Not everyone's type of game.... Although once I got the hang of how things work, I really enjoyed it. Although I thought the multiplayer was so-so, which is too bad considering the robust map editor.

...i cant believe people had so much trouble with the driving. between the reasonably fast vehicles, abundance of shortcuts, ease of avoiding the guards if you dont want to deal with them, and the buses, i have never been like 'damn this is going to take forever'. personally it is one of my favourite 360 games. i guess some people would rather wander down corridors and have no options in approaching a mission than spend a little time driving, which is understandable. but if you want something a little more methodical, fc2 is awesome. some of the firefights can be super intense, too. i love the way the guns wear and tear, and the diversity of weapons.
I hear FC3 will be in africa too, so hopefully they will adress a lot of the issues. I read an interview in GameInformer with one of the devs, and it sounds like the game would have been a lot better if they had just been given more time.
I rented it first...to check it out...and I think is very good. The free roam gameplay and the missions are awesome..What did you guys think?racastro65
It was okay in my books, outside of the graphics I couldn't find anything else that impress me about the game.
I liked it on PC. A lot of people had way too high of expectations so they were disappointed when they didn't get EXACTLY what they wanted. I, on the other hand, had a fun time with it... come to think of it I still haven't beaten that game.....
i rented as well my impression was that it had some annoying flaws like: -bad guys coming outta no where -environments blended in but i really enjoy the game gave you a lot of freedom and everything had a real cohesive feel to it the game was well made and graphics were awesome

Thank goodness I rented it, because I loath it in its current form. There is no doubt it presents great potential for the next entry. I just saw this as a building block for what could be a great game next round IF the devs listen to the people who played it.
It needs: a quick save, better driving physics and should switch from first to third person perspective when you get in the vehicle, more realistic ai for enemies, more wildlife, no phantom killer jeeps from nowhere in the hills to run you over out of the blue, more missions spread out in different locations, more non-confrontational npcs roaming around.
If FC 2 had those things the game would have been a real masterpiece.
I thought it was gonna be GOTY but after playing it i could not have been more dissapointed the game was hugely frustrating and the multiplayer was average if you exclude the map creator.

I enjoy it myself but as some others pointed, it can get annoying after a while when ur driving somewhere then u start getting shot at every junction or so, and there is a lot of driving. Best thing to do is get a jeep with machine gun, and press A and u'll switch to the gunner seat and nail em all lol
Way too repetitive of a game. Get mission, drive to destination, fight guard posts on way, get to destination, complete objective, and repeat. Not to mention that the guard post you cleared out on the way to the mission, the enemies respawn and you have to fight them again.
I hated it. Serious let down. To much driving around and not enough shooting made it dull. With little action between long borig stretched it was just a snoozefest.
Love FARCRY 2 a lil repetitive but really; my only gripe is.....to add to the whole open world thing why not add things that belong in Africa maybe like lions hyenas. How cool it would of been to be in a fire fight with some mercs and bam a lion pounces on ya or a pissed off rhino charges your jeep when u get too close to them. Would of added another whole level of realism in between guardposts.
I really enjoyed it most of the people that complain about it were wanting another hallway shooter with super linear events they werent ready for the unlimited choice of how you wanted to tackle a mission.
Multiplayer was pretty terrible... but I beat the single-player all the way through (took a little over 30 hrs without collecting everything) and it was quite fun. I'll probably play through it again to get all the achievements....and just because the guns and environment are so awesome.
i loved the game. i especially like how open it was to you. they game you mission and you could either go for the mission straight on or do the friend thing to make it easier. i personally wouold plan it outto get as much snipeage as possible they random guard posts i agree were really annoying but its over all a super sweet game 9.5/10 for me
i finished the game and i enjoyed it alot but the missions got very repetitive after a while and it got annoying that you had to drive so far for like a 5 minute mission.
I really enjoyed it, even got all the diamonds... Fun game, some problems, but it lasted a long time and it was a fun time I had with it... A few days ago I picked it back up and played some awesome playermade maps with friends. The map community is unbelievable.
Although, the multiplayer ranking system is RIDICULOUS. >:[
graphics were great, beat it, sold if for 30 bucks. it was fun invading camps, but every mission was the same! and online was bad after an hour, wish i rented it, but i was so hyped for it because far cry 1 was great and crysis was great on pc
Yeah, honestly hated it. When you first crack it open, you see a really nice looking and nicely detailed world. Then you start playing repetitive missions and drive through a million check points that keep respawning and then you have to repair your car every 50 metres because a patrol comes past and you have to stop and deal with it (because you can't outrun them). And after an hour or so, you realise that there really isn't a lot to the game - everyone outside of town is hostile to you to the exclusion of everyone else. All the missions and side quests involve shooting a few dozen people. THEN you jump online and it gets worse - horrible, horrible multiplayer compared to any recent FPS game. The map editor is cool, sure, but what does that matter if the gameplay sucks? *I guess you could call these spoilers* ... And it has one of the worst stories in gaming history where none, NONE of your decisions even really matter and there are some gaping plot holes (like dead buddies miraculously coming back to life and trying to kill you).
