i have it on a shuffle of 725 songs (so far) of Bowie, NIN, Tool, Depeche Mode, Puscifer, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and Disturbed.
Lots of Metal. Children of Bodom, Chimaira, DevilDriver, Arch Enemy, A Plea For Purging. Anything thats metal really.
I listen to the game. Kinda hard to hear someone trying to shoot you.

Depends on the game. That can be very true in a shooter. Audio cues are essential in some games, like Left 4 Dead, and are helpful in many others. On the other hand, some games don't require that much attention, Oblivion for example. I find I can listen to music, watch movies, type posts on GameSpot, eat dinner, and do pretty much whatever while playing that game. I haven't tested it yet, but I'm not sure I even have to be in my house to play Oblivion.

I just enjoy the in-game sounds too much. I mean playing an rpg with heavy metal seems alittle weird if it's a touching moment. Alittle hard to concentrate when you keep hearing sounds that don't really go with what you're playing. I have OCD so it really bothers me a lot lol. Though if the game has horrible sounds i will listen to music.
Depends on the game, if it is a competative multiplayer I listen to the game, but say for like Fallout, when i get tired of listening to the radio on there(which doesn't take long) I listen to a lot of metal: Killswitch, lamb of god, slayer, metallica, august burns red, anthrax, iron maiden, as i lay dying, In flames(who are so kick a$$ its not even funny), etc, etc.
Metal is also mostly what i listen to while not playing games, but im also a really big blues and classic rock kinda guy. just saw bb king live a couple of months ago and I don't think i could go a whole day without my cream/zeppelin/hendrix fix.
Melodic Death Metal mostly for me. Children of Bodom, Kalmah, Norther, In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Blood Stain Child, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, At The Gates, Wintersun, Immortal Souls. Thats all I can think of right now.
This. I don't understand the urge to listen to something else. Do you people do the same when you watch a movie? When I play a game, I pay attention to it. I'm not listening to music, I'm not chatting with friends via headset and I'm not eating greasy pork products. The audio of the game.:|

Depends on the game; depends on the movie. I multitask a lot. If there's a film or game I really enjoy, then I'll sit down and just pay attention to that. Other times, though, I just get bored doing one thing. Maybe not "bored," but I feel like I need to be doing more.

In a movie sound is vital to the plot, there wouldn't really be a point in watching a movie if you couldn't hear because you wouldn't understand what was going on. When you're gaming your doing it for the visceral fun, especially in online gaming, where the only thing you maybe trying to do is relax and enjoy yourself. The audio of the game.:|

Depends on the game I'm playing. For the most part, I just listen to the in-game audio. But sometimes I have metal/rock of most types on (almost anything other than 'Indie' - hate that stuff...), and occassionally I'll listen to certain video-game related podcasts (normally if I'm playing Tiger Woods, where there isn't a great deal of great commentary...)
I never understood why people dont listen to the game music and audio. Video Game Soundtracks are some of the most beautiful music pieces out there, its equivalent to watching a film with only the speech, and no background music.
Plus I find I cant concentrate on the game when there is random music playing.
I have noticed that its always Rap or Drum and Bass, or Heavy Metal that people listen to, which suggests a certain demographic, the 15-19 year olds, thats just generalising though. I appreciate the whole game, not just the playing.
seems to be a concurrent theme of metal/rock, any hip-hop fans in here? and im not talking about the sexist, degrading hip-hop, more the stuff that actually means somethingchaoscougar1
That seems to be becoming a rare thing today, I really enjoy some of the old hip-hop stuff, but all of this new stuff, at least the stuff that I occasionally here(listen mostly to metal) is just straight, talentless crap.
I like to listen to music mostly when I'm grinding levels on an RPG or any other game where there is no talking or sound advantage like Dynasty Warriors. Or if it's a game I have played allot and know what everyone is going to saylike Fallout3,Oblivion, or MassEffect.
O yeah I forgot :?I usally listen to a mix of music but mostly stuff like In Flames,Soilwork,Cradel of Filth,Taproot,Megadeth,Otep,Kitte,NIN,Gorillaz,Ludacris,PerfectCircle,ArchEnemy. Haha long list.:P
I listen to music depending on what game i play. for example, if it call of duty i wont cause i need to hear when i'm getting shot..but lets say a game like skate, i usually listen to calypso music.
Recently, while playing Halo online I usually listen to and then there were none, or Skillet, or 3DG.
