What do you think of the man that made gears of war possible, is he a money loving tyrant who ships broken games or a great guy who brought the gaming world an addicting game franchise?

i still dont know why people say they hate him i mean they dont even know him they have only seen pics and yet many people call him names and yes hes helping to bring us great games Unreal tournament and gears of war are great epic games. Also there are alot of great games powered by the unreal engine.

i still dont know why people say they hate him i mean they dont even know him they have only seen pics and yet many people call him names and yes hes helping to bring us great games Unreal tournament and gears of war are great epic games. Also there are alot of great games powered by the unreal engine.

you have a point but my one thing that annoyed me about him is that he doesnt even seem to care that people had some serious problems about the campaign i mean really the bosses werent hard or exciting....and the final "boss" fight with the mutant Brumack was a poor excuse for an enemy....all i am saying realy is i hope he puts more time into the next instalment and go back to the old boss roots

I dont understand the hate towards the guy, gears of war is the same as their company.

well i see where coming from but i doubt he has master control over what goes into the game hes not the only person that works on gears.

He's the founder of a company that created a lot of great games and considered an icon in the history of gaming. not sure why people hate on him. I miss that "icon" show on G4TV, lol

I miss all the shows they had that actually related to what the channels was supposed to be about. Last time I watched that channel the only shows that were about video games and technology were x-play and Attack of the Show. And Attack of the show is only loosely related to technology and games. More about finding bs on the internet and giggling about it. And half of x-play is just them doing stupid skits and avoiding actually doing their jobs. Heck though, I haven't watched them since like early 2008 though so maybe things magically got better.

so true.last summer they ran a replay of all the canceled great shows. its a shame what they did to that channel.

I like Cliff. He knows his sh!t and loves games. He's enthusiastic about it. Nothing wrong with that. He's always trying to push the envelope to make better games that he enjoys. He's a gamer too so he knows what he wants in a game so I think he has a good idea of what most people would enjoy. If some people out there don't like the games he works on for one reason or another, it's like they feel like he has it out for them on some personal level. It's stupid. So, if you don't like Gears of War, or experience some glitch in a game, that's no reason to talk ish about him. He's not a one man game developer. Name a game out there with no quirks in it at all. It's a super complicated process with fanboys nitpicking at every little issue they find. Why don't you guys try developing a game some time? People should be thankful that he and Epic are trying to make an effort to respond to user feedback. Take the smoke grenade rework for example. They listened to what people cried about in the forums, explained their reason for why they designed it the way that they did and tried to satisfy everyone with a happy medium. But none of that's ever good enough for the fanboy gamer. He's got some good insights into the gaming industry if you just listen to what he has to say. Honestly how many of you would love to be in his shoes right now?

I generally like him a lot.

I kinda did not like when hethrew away his nickname.

and he also needs to step off the throne and admit the flaws/glitches in Gears 2 mulitplayer. He boasts about how good it is, but he needs to step down off the pedastle and admit it took way too long to get it working, let alone balanced.

I think every high profile developer should be honest and humble, those people are typically my favorite.

I like cliffy b, but enjoyed him more during gears 1.

Its because he is very arrogant and made Gears of War 2 online was going to work this time and what not, and he even didn't want a public beta because he thought it would affect sales. So then the game ships people play the campaign and go "Wow that was great sans the last boss" then they jump into the online to find that most of the glitches and bugs that were in the first Gears of War were still present (some actually worse than what they were) and plenty new bugs appeared. Fans complained on the Gears of War fourms and how did EPIC respond? With a $10 map pack. No news about a patch or anything of the sort. On top of that the game was lag ridden making it nearly unplayable, and matchmaking could take upwards of 10 minutes to get into a game.

Granted the game is fine now and is getting better, but it was Cliffy B's arrogance that kinda made people dislike him after Gears of War 2 shipped and people couldn't even play the online because of lag.
