true, but those games are built ground up with multiplayer in mind. yes...dead rising and oblivion are excellent. gears of war is fantastic, but to beat it at the insane difficulty, you have to be in online co-op. i fear that halo 3 will actually be very lackluster in terms of single player because of too much multiplayer focus.clone01i agree

I like multiplayer (GRAW, Rainbow 6 Vegas) but there's just no great singleplayer games out right now, at least until Bioshock, Mass Effect, Alone in the Dark, and Alan Wake are here. I guess developers want to give games maximum replayability, but it seems to me that there's just something about a rich, atmospheric game played by yourself in the middle of the night.clone01
I disagree... Oblivion is a great single player game. Viva Pinata is also a great game if you're willing to give it a shot. Tony Hawk Project 8 is a good single player game. Guitar Hero 2 is an excellent single player game. Dead Rising and Hitman Blood Money are also a couple quality single player-oriented games.
I also liked Rainbow 6's single player campaign... and Gears Of War's as short as it was.

Rich atmospheric game...no...viva pinata is a sim, tony hawk is a sports game, guitar hero 2 is a rhythm game. Hitman, meh.
Rainbow 6's single player game was good, though online co-op was by far the better way to play it. Same goes for Gears.
When I say single player, I mean something along the lines of Zelda: Twilight princess, RE4, or Oblivion.
i've been askin myself this for a while....i just got Just Cause and its pretty decent...Decent like Saints Row, ok!..u'll either luv it or hate it..u could also give Marvel ultimate alliance a trytribalToxDude you can play 4 players in story mode how is that SP.

Well, in that case. The only two single player games that are 'rich and atmospheric' for the 360 I can think of are Oblivion and Gears. Oh and SOTN for arcade.Rich atmospheric game...no...viva pinata is a sim, tony hawk is a sports game, guitar hero 2 is a rhythm game. Hitman, meh. Well just give it some time... There are some great single player games out, and yes... Some of them happen to be multiplayer... But when you have a shooter, most of the time shoving a multiplayer mode into it wont only help sales, but will help people like it more... Same goes for most games.
Gears, GRAW, and Rainbow Six were all VERY enjoyable for me single player... Yes, you can play co op... Yes, you can play multiplayer... But that doesn't mean they are NOT good single player games.
Dead Rising is a good game... IF you are looking for "rich and atmospheric", then get a ps2 or something... That has a lot more games. Every system needs a chance to build up it's library. Splinter cell is also a good single player game...
Oblivion is an amazing immersive experience...
Guitar Hero 2 can't be beat when it comes to addictiveness, fun, and party type of games... It's a great overall experience...
DMC 4 will be coming out soon enough... Hopefully A new Ninja Gaiden will aswell... The Darkness is coming out, MAss Affect, Blue Dragon, Bioshock, Forza Motorsport 2, assassin's creed, etc.
I also enjoyed Condemned quite a lot aswell...
It just depends on what you are looking for... If you try and compare any game (imo) to zelda, that game probably won't stand a chance. It's the same for me and Okami... It was an awesome game, but if I called it a "zelda type game", I didn't like it as much... I took it as it's own game and it did wonderfully.
Don't worry about what kind of game it is, just worry about what can be gotten from it for the type of game it is.
