I loathe the days when I was a teenager and games sometimes cost $80.....

$60 now is still cheaper than $80 then and we aren't even including things like inflation, increased development costs, etc etc. Kids these days don't know how good they've got it ;)

PC games are all £30, apart from some being given £5 price increases, so why are console games more expensive, they don't take more skill and time to create, all games are made on PC/Macs after all.

No, but to be on a console you do have to pay licensing fees to the console manufacturer......

*sigh*

The good old days are gone, now with games becoming more and morecomplex and developed, they will cost more, sadly... Still I hope next gen won't be like 70 dollar!!!

Also if anyone would be kind enough to read my blog, I have written a story there about a fanfic, just click on my name...

Let me know how it is....There are 2 parts of it.....

Gamefly. There are also site were you can trade games with other people. I think it costs a little to use the site bit its better than paying the $60+ for each game.

im 20 now, and i remember back in the day when NES games were like $50, then, like with every system, the prices go down from there. i dont remember a real price difference until xbox came out. but i remember that when they did release a highly priced game it was only because they put like extra stuff on it and that kinda thing, or it came with something. I can understand paying $60 for a good game, like Oblivion, id pay $80 for that game, no question, with the time i put into it, its worth it. but then again, look at some of these games that are coming out, MS has no problem robbing their loyal and dedicated fans, any company that can put out a more colorful version of tetris with better music (not saying this happened, but if it did, im not suprised) and charge $60 for it is straight up out of their mind and greedy. I think games, regardless of time, effort, all that junk, they should be $50 or lower, the junk games should be pre-judged as pure crap and priced accordingly, that way i can spend $50 on a game that i know was completely worth it, then i wont have to cry myself to sleep 3/4 of the time i buy a game.

Good ol' days? I remember a $79.99 Chrono Trigger on day one of release. It was in special class of a few of the "expensive" carts for it's day, i guess.

Nope, they've become cheaper.....

Read some of the other posts here about cartridge prices. Consider that games stuck at the $50 price point for quite a while and thus were never adjusted for inflation, etc. Yeah, definitely actually getting cheaper as far as value for that amount of money goes.

Well if you look at it, games back then cost $40-50, but if you look at the value of a dollar we probably are paying less than what we did for them back then when the dollar wasn't valued as highly.

That's a product of quazi-socialism... but that's a different matter. 60 bucks is pretty rediculous imo because the content of most games is severely lacking. Now if we got free downloadable content with our 60 bucks, then I wouldn't mind. But you buy a few map packs, expansions, etc, for a game and you're paying upwards of 80-100 bucks in the long run. It's pretty suck, but as long as we keep payin' they'll keep sellin 'em :)

it all has to do with the economy. We might be paying $59.99 for a 360 game here in the U.S, but think about other countries. Australia, UK, Canada, Japan....they all pay more than us but technically it's equal if you go by the country's economy.

Economy - Production Cost - Goal/Achievement... it all just ties up in the end..

I spent $70 USD on Ogre Battle 64 many years back, but I didn't mind because that game took 40+ hours to beat. We need more content in games. I'll pay 100 bucks for a game if it has content up the wazoo.

On PSN you can download full priced games as well as minigames. Warhawk, LBP, the next SOCOM etc are all going to be available there as well as on disk, but on PSN they'll be 1/3rd cheaper.

as well informed of the ps3 as you seem to be, what is your point? microsoft has similiar plans with games coming out over the next few years. im not saying the ps3 wont have that but your coming off as trolling considering your in the 360 forum and your praising something on the ps3 of the 360 while the 360 has the same thing.

Well $60 is worth the load of contents you get in a video game these days? As long as you buy good quality games like Oblivion and Gears of War or whatever, then it is diffidently worth the $60. Do more research on a game now before getting ready to purchase and make sure it is worth the $60. The other option you can do is wait for the price to drop.

Game development cost has gone up, as has advertising and marketing. It's only reasonable to expect that as cost to the developer/publisher goes up, that we will have to pay more for games. That's the way business works, and will always work. I know $10 extra here and there adds up, but for the type of games we play today, I find it more then worth it.
