I'm getting my 360 back tomorrow from repairs because it was having freezing problems and I noticed I never cleared the cache on my HDD before I sent it in to see if maybe that was the problem. Does it really help that much? I just want to know because I want to make sure it was my console that was crapping out and not any HDD problems.
Gives you more HDD space. If you rent games and play them for 2 weeks and never again, clear your cache. My hard drive is currently holding 2-3 GB of updates that the cache is holding. The updates are mostly for games that I borrowed/rented/will never play again.
it just clears it of any updates etc. so say u play one game constantly or frequently, download the last update for it some time ago and its starting to become jumpy sort of, youd clear the cache etc, then next time u pop in the game you have to download that update again..
I had similar issues in graw2, fixed them when I did that.
how exactly do you clear the cache on a 360?steveo2000
To perform the function, access 'memory' in the system blade, and then highlight the hard drive. Now press: Y, X, X, LB, RB, X, X. The following message should appear: "Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?"
If you initiate maintenance, the hard drive's cache will be cleared, including all software updates.
