Got some birthday money and am looking to spend it on a new game.  Was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations as I haven't bought a new game in a while.

Currently I own Burnout, Crackdown, Gun, Tomb Raider, SVR07, Table Tennis, Viva Pinata

Please no GRAW, GOW, LP or R6V.  I don't like GRAW or R6V and played GOW and LP already.

I thought about buying Oblivion back again, but realize that it wouldn't be worht it because I really don't have a ton of time to devote games right now.  As it is I usually only get 2-3 hours a few nights out of the week to play video games.  Something liek Oblivion would take forever to finish and I would worry that if I had been away form it for too long that Imay forget where I need to go next.

You can play it in small chunks. In 2 hours you could get three or four quests done.

I have money set aside for that, but am looking to get something to keep me busy till then.

I was thinking of maybe some type of hack-n-slash ala N3, etc

Yeah get Spider-man 3, it comes out next week and it's sure to be fun.  It's got free-roaming in newyork and the sewers/subway, action, fighting and combos, boss fights, multiple quest lines, plenty of fun to be had.  You can definately have fun with it if you play it in chunks of 2-3 hours.

Really?  I had figured you woudl need to devote more time than that.  Woudl it be hard to get back into if it were like a week before I had a chance to jump back into the game?

Oblivion. I didn't want to get into it for several reasons, one being what you said about the lack of remembering what to do, then I realized the quests give you markers on where to go each step of the way..It's a lot of fun, suprisingly.

Well, if you are a sports guy, the only sports game thats out right now, that won't have a sequal coming out within like 4 months or more, is MLB 2k7. This game would be a good buy... Can't think of much else besides Guitar Hero 2...

Yeah, you can leave for months and still remember what to do.  The quest system is set up very well.  With such a huge world, they had to do something like it, marking where your quests are and giving you specific information on what to do.  And the combat is simple enough where you could leave for pretty much any time you want and still be able to pick it up and play successfully.  I'd highly reccomend getting it.  It's an awesome game.

Nope i only play it a for about four hours a week or so. it isn't that hard to get back into it. I honestly stopped playing for close to 6 months, picked it up and kept going right from where i left off. Now i am more addicted to it then what I was before.

N3 is alright, but after you beat it there is absolutely no replay value unless you are just going for achievment points. I realize that dynasty warriors 5 empires isn 't that popular on the 360 but i have played that alot longer than what i played N3

Oblivion is your answer.  Or, you can wait until either Forza 2 or Mass Effect (I'm actually getting both of these games with my b-day money) come out.

Games out now:

Oblivion

Armored Core 4

R6V- I know you said you didn't want it, but this game is AWESOME

And i guess Lego Star wars 2 if you're into that.

Games coming out soon:

Forza 2

Mass Effect

Halo 3

I really suggest getting Oblivion and R6V.  I own r6v and it is addicting.  I can't wait until one of these days i finally fork out the cash for Oblivion (i usually only buy games when they're around 40 bucks), but i know it's a great game.  I'll probably get armored core 4 myself during the mid-summer, just something to mess around with.

Forza 2 is looking awesome, Mass Effect is going to be amazing, and Halo 3 is gonna be, well, Halo 3.  I'll get at least two of those (Forza and Mass Effect), maybe Halo 3.
