What game to get first (sorry if this has been posted b4)

Yea i'd like to know what game i should get that will keep me playing for hours on end, and yes i will get XBL soon after i get the Elite. I'm interested in Shooters, some sports, racing, fighting, and adventure. I don't really trust the EB and Gamestop reviews so you guys are all i got...
