So this is about games that are fantastic in some areas such as story, controls, gameplay, and etc but fail in other areas that you find important for that paticular kind of game. I will have to say Star Ocean The Last Hope fits this category perfectly. It has a really amazing combat system, a decent story, and some nice music but it could have been much better if the characters were more memorable. A few had really annoying voices that took time to get used to and others were just plain annoying. The story could have been better without such long cutsecenes that just seemed way too long and started to get dull. Not to mention it was a very slow starting story and it took all of the way until the middle of the second disc to get pretty interesting,

This isn't a thread about games that you hated or that failed just games that could have been a lot better with a few improvements.

I think shadowrun couldve been an amazing game if it actually had a campaign and if they added more maps, weapons, and races.

Street Fighter IV. It was AMAZING when i first got it. it was absolutely beautiful, everything played well, everything was amazing. . . then i went online. that killed most of my experience, as i found many cheap tactics and clearly Cheap wins and newbies running the show while pros Cowered in their corner at how Broken Abel was and The Invasion of the Kens.

I thought the combat was pretty easy besides a few annoying assassinations. Though I do agree it was pretty repetitive I am on the last part but I just can't seem to force myself to beat it. It was a pretty good game besides that and a few other things.

I'm probably only on the 3rd assassination. Can't force myself to put it in the Xbox :P

Turning Point. It had a great concept but it was poorly implemented.

Also DMC4. The graphics were nice and the gameplay was fun, but it got repetitive halfway through the game thanks to fighting the same bosses over and over again and the constant backtracking in empty hallways.

And Nero was annoying. Capcom, next time you make a DMC game, make sure the protagonist is Dante and Dante only.

yes preach it i love sf but online has def ruined it for me because that is 99.9% of matches people picking ken or ryu and spaming cheap tactics to win and i beat them most of the time so whats the point of spaming the cheap tactic and its not even working?. Now what really disapoints me is that i never get to play against anybody else just ryu and ken. sometimes akuma sometimes sagat but it dosent matter who they pick because they all do the same exact thing.

FC2 had all the potential in the world. if it was more like Boiling Point and less like Assassin's Creed, it would've been GOTY material.

Lost Odyssey.

The presentation and everything was great, but the story is just too sappy. Every cutscene someone is crying. I mean, come on, this isn't a soap opera!

its not that the dlc is bad but come on, oblivion is twice if not 3 times bigger than fallout and shivering isles takes almost 20 hours while fallout took me about 40-50. if the dlc was free i would still complain seeing that the game could be a lot bigger but whatever. Fallout 4 you got to impress me in that department.

Despite it being a great game on XBox 360, Fable 2 fell short. The graphics were fantastic, the dog was awesome, music was incredible, but some minor flaws held this game back from being truly epic. This game could have really been something special if the multiplayer was done right. The whole camera angle in multiplayer was horrible and the fact you couldn't bring your own hero into another's world was a HUGE mistake for Lionhead. I understand that Lionhead didn't want to allow an outsider can enter your world and destroy everything you earned; I totally agree with that decision. However, the fact you couldn't bring your own character's weapons and appearance into your friend's world was a huge mistake and an epic letdown. What's the point of playing a hero that doesn't resemble your hero's appearance and their weapons in another hero's world with a horrible camera problem? Also, On that topic, your hero's appearance could be altered big time by eating just one piece of meat. I don't want my character to look like he just came from a pie eating contest. It's hard to get your character looking the way you want them to. I would purposely not level up my strength for a female character just because I didn't want her to look like Hammer. Finally, the story was pretty good but the ending was terrible. I won't spoil it, but after everything Lucien puts you through, the ending just didn't do the game justice. Despite my minor complaints (including the big multiplayer disappointment), Fable 2 was still a great game but fell short of my expectations.

spamming and cheap tactics ? there are easy ways to avoid these "tactics" and not everyone is ryu and ken, but i actually revel against ken and ryu players, as there by far the easiest to beat, learn how to block and counter, quite simple.

Transformers:The Game (Based on 1st movie, not the second one)

Easy, yet very frustraing to do most objective. They could have made weapons useful insted of making them "sheild raisers" and then you would have a robot "brawl" when its supposed to be a robot"firefight"

Assassin's Creed, Call of Juarez, and Lost Odyssey.

All good games that could have been soooo much better.

Grand Theft Auto 3.. it was good with the dodo and all, but it was missing a few aspects to the game... like, not being able to jump out of moving cars, not being able to pop car tyres with guns.. and a few more modifications that could have made the game better. But that game was and always will be a masterpeice for it's year. [2003]

Trust me i dont get beat by those people but it makes the game no fun and yeah i have played against other characters but most of the time its ryu and ken like i said before id say 90% of the people i face pick those 2 and im not hyping that number.

Probably Gears Of War 2 IMO - it just didn't live up to the hype and the multiplayer was no where near as fun as the first game despite improved game mechanincs!

Gears of War. It was a great, nay, excellent game, but it never amazed me. I was never blown away, or on the edge of my seat, or even caring a whole ton during the campaign. Gears of War 2 fixed that problem for me quite well.

Another is Street Fighter IV. Unlike Gears, this just flat out sucked. Capcom, I love you, but you won'd find me wasting my time and cash on this franchise ever again. Maybe, if I had played that game since the olden arcade days and spent thousands worth of quarters, if the controls weren't broken, and if the AI wasn't so cheap, it might have been a fun fighting game. But it was the least intuitive, least accessable, most frsutrating game I have ever had the misfortune to spend 55 dollars on. Thank God it was used, and I could take it back two days later after having no fun at all, and just breaking things worth more than that heap of crap. I'll take my SSB and Soul Calibur over this any day of the week.

Of course, the obvious one, Assassin's Creed. Such a brilliant concept, and I couldn't help but pity the great game struggling to come out, but burried beneath repetition.

Gun. Great story, gameplay mechanics, and some very fun moments. But, the area was WAY too small for an open-world game, and even after doing ALL the optional side-missions I still beat the game in under 10 hours.

Star Wars The Force Unleashed. While it was fun the first 5 hours the last 2 afterwards was quite repetive, and ended up being a XXYY/XYY mashing fest. And after the 7-8 hours of gameplay, you don't feel extremely enthralled to return unless you are looking some useless lightsaber color crystal

Eternal Sonata and Lost Odyssey for me. Both had a couple flaws that kept them from being awesome games. Both are great and I enjoyed them immensely, but a couple annoying factors prohibited them from being true favorites.

I have to say Resident Evil 5. It was fun while it lasted, but it became very repetitive and was not even close to the replay value that RE4 had. Still fun with a friend though.

I have too many games on my mind but I will say one I was expecting something more...Army of Two The game had a cool premise and some good ideas like customize weapons, total co-op, some cool looking characters, but it could have been better if they fixed the lags online, make the sounds and feel of weapons more powerful and as a plus I wouldnt mind some gore
