The Warthogs are SUPPOSED to be that fast. Read the books. In the games they're slowed down so you can control them. Think about this. It's FIVE HUNDRED YEARS in the future. Don't you think we would have increased the pickup on a humvee in that amount of time?Mecamatt
The Physics suck, Shoot a grunt with a machinegun and it flies back 20 feet. Warthogs are too mobile and turn way too fast for a car, and are overpowered. Plasmabat

Acaully lot of the books are not based on the games....so there

and did you not see when one of the grunts methane tank got a hole in it he was flying all over the place.
I cant belive that the TC is making a big frekin deal over a game that is over a year away from being released. Now if that game was to come out next week then ok,i would complaint too, but jeez you do realize that this is just to show you what the game is gonna be like. Its only a demonstration!!! Im mind boggled that someone would even complain this early on in its development. You should be grateful that they are showing it this early on, this is the reason we dont get gamepley movies or anything nice from game developers. Usually at this stage all you get is game art and concept stuff.
Yea the AI is gonna be dumb when showing off a game you dont wanna get killed. So develpers either turn on god mode of make the AI stupid as hell depending on the situation. They wanna show the game off so you can get an early expectation of the game, You wouldnt wanna watch it and see him getting killed would you? I mean if he did get killed you would probably complain the the AI is too hard. Just chill out watch the game come along under development and enjoy that your getting a nice glimpse at what the game could be like!
this is an early version just like Starcraft 2 is right now. Yeah they are showing gameplay, but this shows they wen't out of their way just to show the game off. Anybody remember Starcraft:Ghost? That game had tons of demos of real gameplay, but it still got canceled (probably because it sucked but still). They can show off gameplay even in early development. Hell the game was announced last E3 and even Ensemble said they hadn't even been working on the game like at all (more like messing around with the idea and testing things out) so do you really think that they would show off a almost completed game only a year and a few months later?
It is early in development but even with that it doesn't mean it will improve... Just hope really. Anywho i am buying it firstly because it is Halo and secondly i want a console RTS (i loved Starcraft on the N64 and yes i own it on PC). My only problem with BFME II for the 360 was really the framerate, but this game is being made just for the 360 so it should be made with the hardware in mind (if they don't they suck at developing).
Really i would rather see Blizzard make, but then if they did it would come out on the next Xbox console (slowest developers ever... but i will wait because they make amazing games).
I watched the 10 minute Halo Wars video and I can say I am very disapointed... My big beefs with the game are:
1, The A.I. I didn't like it much at all... The groups on each side would just stand there and shoot. Thats about it. They didn't move much at all. It was boring to watch.
2, The Phyics. They, in a word, suck. The warthogs move WAY to fast and they really really like that fish talling... It was over done. And when it jumps the canyon...YEAH RIGHT! That was just stupid. And the banshees movements were a bit strange.
What I think would have been cool is if they basically made a Halo:CE RTS. As in a RTS game with Halo 1 physics, graphics and A.I. It can't be that hard to do. That would be really cool.
Anyone agree?

1. The game is almost a year from release, the A.I. you saw was a early model of the finally version.
2. I agree about the fish tailing, but when playing a RTS, you need the characters to react instantly in the direction you set them to. So this fish-tailing is all for the gameplay to be better.
3. the game is A YEAR FROM RELEASE, they show you a early version to give you a taste of the game, to make you get hype, and you totally over analizeUNCOMPLETE GAME.

I was very disappointed by the demo too. The "stand and shoot" mechanics seemed very last gen compared to games like Endwar and CoH. Everybody knows that in halo, you cannot stand still or you will die. Likewise, you have to keep driving your warthog around or you will die.
I don't think the AI will get much better in the final version. If you were a developer, would you show off a game with half-completed AI? Would Gears have been demoed if the cover feature wasn't available? If the units are supposed to be moving around or taking cover, it would have been a very impressive and important feature and they would have waited until they could implement that feature before they showed the game.
I thought the game looked disappointing, but not for the reasons you mentioned. I thought the warthog movements were very well done, and I love it when vehicles move fast in RTS games instead of being ridiculously slow.
The game looked nice and seemed very entertaining, but it didn't seem to offer anything "new". For someone like me who sucks at traditional RTS, this game doesn't seem to provide anything that would make me play a strategy game if I haven't played one before, and I had expected Halo Wars to cater to the RTS-newb in some interesting way.
Oh well, here's hyping EndWar ;)
