Given many responses I've read over the last three or so months, I think people expected too much out of Halo 3. I heard so many people criticize it for being "the same thing", which I never could understand because Halo 3 is a sequel to Halo 2 which was a sequel to Halo. How could it be anything other then Halo but with added polish, maps, further story advancement, etc? I'm sure there are more reasons, but I've seen Halo 3 bashed for not being something totally different then Halo 2, but if it was drastically different then it wouldn't be Halo any more.
I've never cared for Halo. Not the original, Halo 2 and definitely not Halo 3, but not because it was "more of the same" but because I don't care for the game. If people don't like Halo 3 because they don't like Halo 3 then fine, but to not like it because it's "more of the same" is kind of goofy if you ask me. Halo is Halo, and there isn't much Bungie could do with it besides add to it and polish it up. You certainly cannot expect an entirely new experience, yet have it retain the same Halo look, feel and characteristics.
I just think people expected way too much and it could never live up to people's expectations if one was expecting a drastic change in the series. But that's not Bungie's fault, but rather the fault of people who didn't keep their expectations in check.
dispite all the negative remarks there still are a large population of people playin it but i've narrowed it down to only 2 types of gamers. the majority of the people playin Halo 3 constantly today are the Halo 2 superfans who cant get enough and the first go round Halo players who never knew what 1 and 2 were like...
Halo 3 still moves close to 400K units a month. Its not forgotten. It's sold almost 6 million copies. Thats close to being like if you put any two 360 owners in a room, one of them probably has Halo 3. Thats a hell of an attach rate.MrSickVisionzNot surprising, especially since it was in my opinion overhyped. Of course tons of people are going to buy it, its just a question of whether or not they still play it after a month
i agree it could go both ways... a couple of months ago alot of people were goin crazy about it and over estimating how good it was actually gonna be. also with all the great games that seem to keepcrankin out no one has time to pop it back into the disc tray for replay-ability...MIB911Actually I did today. I didn't beat it on Ledgendary so I popped it in and played a couple of levels.

good point... but that statistic goes along with the overhyped category
It lived up to the hype and exceeded it IMO.
SP is awesome IMO.The best in the series..I liked it even more than half life 2
Mp is one of the best in any game
Forge is awesome as well gives a lot of replay value
Saved films are cool but i dont use them that much
