examples- Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Sly, Rayman, Tak, Ape Escape...games like that. Am I missing the fact that these are for Sony only? I can't really remember about any really good ones on the original Xbox because I never owned the original Xbox but I had some of the greatest fun playing these kinds of adventure games collecting coins and upgrading my arsenal and all that jazz....Did this genre die or something because I can' t recall any games like these?

Naw, it doesn't count. I think the TC is referring to platform games with CUTESY, like the games he mentioned above. You know.. ones with mascots and stuff. Well, TC, most of the time, it's hard to come up with a mascot character in an action adventure platform game that doesn't flop. Spyro, although lasted a while, has competely disappeared.. You'd be surprise with Nintendo Wii and its games.. these kinda games would be more accepted. I think this genre or category is starting to die out slowly, on the PS3 and Xbox 360.. and will remain strong with Nintendo, with games like Super Mario.. hell even Star Fox, a big franchise died out. Crash Bandicoot is gone. It's too easy to make a cheesy game in this genre, than to make one that fits the bill. It's a tough cookie.

yea it's unfortunate..I just liked those kinds of games idk why. Everything is so serious nowadays and has to look ultra realistic.

Thats just it. There ARE games like that still, they're just more mature now. Assassin's Creed, for example, I have always found kind of similar to Sly Cooper. You have a group of cities that are open-ended and you run around sneaking across rooftops and completing the missions. But Assassin's Creed is a lot more serious and violent and loses some of the charm of the old games like the ones you mentioned.

The genre is pretty much dying out. All the good ones I can think of on the 360 are on XBLA. Cute characters hoping around just don't sell like they used to.

developers are taking less and less chances these days and are looking to cash in on the shooting genre. The ps2 years were filled with all types game games that were very different and unique. Now game developed costs are on the rise and more and more risks are being taken in game development.

you can't blame them..they need profits from games to stay afloat.

What about Kameo Elements of Power? It's the only one that I can think of that hasn't been mentioned.
