what happens if i format my hard drive???

i've been experiencing a few wonky things lately with my hard drive and am thinking of reformatting. i know i'll lose all my saved games but that's ok with me since i mostly play multiplayer anyway.

my question is this: do i lose my achievements? achievements aren't a huge deal to me, but i'd like to know if i'll lose them anyway.

also: i play a lot of cod4. will i have to start all the way over at the first rank or will it remember what rank i am?

if formatting an xbox HDD is anything like formatting a computer HDD than ALL data = GONE FOREVER

yeah you can recover your gamertag, achievements and gamerscore later... just be sure to connect to XBL before you format your HDD.. that way the XBL server will have your most updated gamertag data 8)

well i formatted it and it wasn't a big deal at all. yea, i lost my savegames, but it actually saved all my cod4 multiplayer stuff including rank and custom classes. so i'm pretty happy about that.
