what happens if you send in a red lighted 360 in with mem still on top?

what will happen if i sent in my 360 to the tech depo with the mem still on top will it break or what. the reason i did this is b/c the stupid lady on phone said it ok to keep it on. so a little help plzzz

Then you've probably had a hardware failure with the hard-drive, if they told you to leave it on then it's fine, leave it on and send it back :S
