720P. 1080P is nonsense by the way..danneswegman

I'll tell you a secret. I work as a vendor for all of the major retailers and if you can find someone to be 100% honest with you on the sales floor, ask them to see the 1080p demos they have vs 1080i and tell me what difference you see.
After your have made you decision ask them the format the demo was shot on?
You will be shocked.
I know a was. Many people are asking some very hard questions and after going to the high end electronics stores as well as big boxes and the answer was all the same (behind the scenes that is).
You will need to judge for yourself but once you find out the ulgy truth at retail you might second guess the entire issue.

do u have 50 inch screen? if so then 1080p should be an option for you, i only have a 32 inch lcd 720p and 1080i are perfect for games and movies.
Since I have a 16x9 CRT EDTV, I stick with 480p.
It's a shame that 720p doesn't have a huge future in home media, aside from the game consoles. And even then, it is extremely difficult to find a television with an actual 1280x720 native resolution, instead we're being inundated with a slew of 1366x768 LCDs that have a display resolution that doesn't match any common media formats without scaling. With Blu-ray and HD-DVD both being 1080p formats, it's frustrating that both the PS3 and X360 are neither completely designed for 1080p. I suppose this is what happens when game consoles come out during a time of transitioning television technology.
I almost wish that either the X360 had been held off until 1080p was finalized as the definitive standard and been designed around it, or that 720p would have been chosen as the stopping point for all displays. Now we have game consoles that are being somewhat mismatched with their displays and so we're forced to settle with scaling, or even have one television for the game console and another for the Blu-ray/HD-DVD player. I can't wait for all these standards to settle down and actually become...you know...standards.
Yeah, this is all really nit-picky, and the X360 still has great looking games, but if we can't be elitist snobs about our consumer electronics, then what's the point?

If you're really a vendor you'd know that in almost all cases 1080i is running at 30hz and 1080p is running at 60hz. Due to this there is a massive difference when it comes to displaying fast motion, as is found in most games...
I'm sorry, but you will never convince me that 1920x1080 is not better than 1280x720 or 1080i. I have a 1080p set. I have tested it...
