For me Gears... I must be the only 360 owner that doesn't really like Halo I know it kickass but never got into it. I borrowed the 3rd one off my bro and played it for 10mins if that and was bored. Again nothing agaist the game or the series just never got into it so Gears is my choice.

I've only played single player in both, but I liked Halo 3 a lot more than Gears of War... the only things I didn't like about Halo 3 were the crappy indoor areas near the start and end of the game, and Cortona and the Flood Leaders lame random interuptions to gameplay.
I am sure this topic has been asked and discussed a lot of times in here before.
although the games are similiar. they are different. sure both shooters killing aliens. gears has a lot less vehicle action. less weapons and an extremely harder final fight scene.
There is a lot more cinematics in gears.
personally, I think halo 3 is better. had a lot more replayability. gears final fight scene was extremely difficult on the easy level. gave up on normal and didnt try on the hard level. sort of makes the game a real let down if the final fight is too hard or too easy.

Ones a first person shooter and ones a third person, how can you compare them? But the only game I play is Gears of war, Halo is too fast and you only have to keep your marker in one spot to get headshots the whole time, Gears requires abit of strategy.
I don't see how the final fight was so difficult in Gears on any difficulty, I had fun beating down General Raam both by myself and in co-op on Insane. Very thrilling fight actually. And the Locust are not aliens. They came from beneath the planets crust, therefore they're not aliens.

actually, if you read the plotline and backstory in gears... by definition, humanity are the aliens on that planet, as the planet all this happens on is not Earth.
I love both games, still have them, but I don't see how you can really compare them. They're two different types of shooters that are equally fun to play for different reasons. I also don't see how someone can say Halo 3 doesn't have any strategy or tactics involved in the multiplayer. And I also see people complain about Halo 3's story being pointless, nonexistent, or confusing. I don't have much trouble following it, it's a pretty simple concept. Granted, it could have been a lot better and the Cortana/Gravemind sequences interrupting the game were extremely annoying...I just think people will hunt excessively for something to complain about no matter what game developers do. :)
I enjoyed Gears way better...Halo3 just didn't do it for me. You can't run in Halo3, there' no real strategy to the online slayer modes. There just wasn't enough features. I couldn't stand the jump button...that was way outta hand. The melee system was garbaaaage, you didn't know if you Melee'd someone first or got shot by the shotgun. The online play was extremely repetitive, and I'm no fan of respawn...die...respawn...die....respawn..die. I will say the campaign mode in Halo3 was somewhat more adventurous with the Vehicles and exploration look about it. Halo3 was fun , but Gears of war was down n' dirty action. The first real graphical experience of an Xbox 360 game.
Gears of War is way better than Halo 3. I still like H3 and all but it doesnt satisfy me like Gears does and Bungie was stupid for not adding a search function to find and choose from list of custom games, maybe if Bungie had a way for us all to join people we never played with custom games at any given time I would play it more, and Im sure that alot more people would play it more. Even if the custom game finder was in Halo Gears would still be better.
Halo 3 has amazing multiplayer options, file share, home made videos, Forge, good map and character personalization... but i simply like more Gears of war, i never got bored in the 6 months i played it, custom matches with friends hosted by me are the best!
Besides theres nothing like blasting away a COG chest with my gnasher shotgun.
I liked Gears better it was innovative where as Halo 3 was just a a polished turd of Halo 2. But who knows maybe the Gears Trilogy will end up the same way as the Halo trilogy

No, I believe him. I know someone that loves the 360 so much he bought it three times last year (because he can't manage his finances worth **** His words, verbatim, is "Halo 3 is the worst game I've ever played. I only played it because my friends were playing it." He also co-op Gears of War twice with my other friend, but he ended up saying he didn't like it anyways.
Gears of War, no contest. Halo 3 is great but it isnt as brilliant as Gears of War. Yeah, yeah, my icon is Halo 3.. Well that's because I just got through the game on Heroic. Hehe.
I have to go with Halo 3. I had a friend over and we played Halo 3 for six hours strait, then we decided to plays Gears of War. Gears of War was just terrible after we played Halo 3. Luckily we only rented Gears.
