Ok. so I was playing my 360, and my screen started to go fuzzy and my 360 started making weird sounds. So I turn it off reset it and everything and then turn it back on. The power light came on and then one ring started to blink red. I was like **** RROD. But no I got some error code called E-74. So I'm making this post because insted of paying $100 and waiting a month for repair from Microsoft, I want to fix it myself, if anyone knows how and can help please do so. I already unhooked everything took out my hard drive and tried it then and still had the message. WHAT IS E-74!!!!!

Edit: Please use the RROD Sticky next time. A message from the mods.

You might want to look at the sticky thread.

E74 is a rare error that means one of two things: Your scaler chip has a problem or your GPU has a problem. Most of the time the scaler chip is not functioning properly, which can cause major graphical inconsistencies. Often it manifests as red and black dots covering part or all of the image until the console will no longer function. Since it is a rare issue, it is only covered under Microsoft's standard 1 year limited warranty.

This was posted in a forum regarding E-80: Talked to a supervisor, was told that it IS related to NXE, but that they don't have a set policy on it yet, and to check the xbox.com forums and call back in a week, once CS has a set policy regarding it.

it's a GPU problem. (it's the video card on the 360) i think u should try and see if u can swap cords and see if that works. if not then u have a GPU problem. google is ur friend search there to how to fix it.
