i recently upgraded to my parent's samsung LN-S2341W 23" HDTV. it supports 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i. i hooked my elite up to it via HDMI and it looks amazing compared to the old SDTV. just wondering, which of those 4 is being displayed?
thanks

the reason a lot of people like 720p more (me included) is the way the picture is displayed
p = progressive
i = interlaced
I think the progressive picture is much cleaner - if it was 1080p then that would be a different story
but everyone has different opinions so just change it in your system blade and check both to see which one you like better

On Amazon it lists its resolution as 1366 x 768, so that's what you are seeing all the time. 720p equals 1280*720, so your monitor is slightly higher than that and will upscale the 720p to that 768p. 1080i will be deinterlaced and downscaled to that 768p. It's possible downscaling 1080i will hold a little more detail at 768p than 720p, but mainly if you try it with HD movies and depends on how well the tv processes it. Just use 720p for gaming, or if you got the VGA cable, choose 1360*768. Not sure if the HDMI you are using will give you the 1360*768 option, so just use 720p with.
