HAlo 4 will never exist because bungie already said halo was a trilogy. Marathon remakes have already been confiirmed. Marathon and Halo are in the same universe i believe, but everyone saying halo3 's ending was bad : I AgreeI hope I get a Halo 4, Marathon seems kinda....bleh. I'll hope for a Halo 4 but,I could deal with marathon if it can match the fun i had with Halo. Honestly, I hope that they just wanted to make another and left it open ended.
The ending shows us that Master Chief has completed his mission. Earth thinks he's dead though. All the Chief is doing is going back to sleep.. until he's needed again. I guess Bungie left their options open for a 4th Halo.. if they want to.
sinistergoggles

??? Huh? I beat the game on legendary but didn't think that the ending changed....what's different?
Edit-nevermind, saw it on YouTube
It basically says Bungie pulled a George Lucas and made the 3 sequels to the original trilogy later, meaning that Halo 1-3 are all lead up to the marathon games. The protaganist in Marathon I believed was described as a "timeless hero" and fell from space or some crap like that... Timeless hereo, falling from space... master chief is sorta a hero, and sorta is going to fall from space to that planet.FlawlessSeasons
i agree with you that sounds logical
and if remakes are in the works i wouldnt be surprised if 3 things about the storyare similar to halo:
1) the protagonist is voiced by Steve Downs (similar voice...)
2) they somehow reference the human/covenant war or the flood, the halos, ETC.
3) some of the covenant species make an aperance (like the engineers or any surviving brutes)
wait... i just relized marathon ALREADY makes a referance to halo
i read in the OXM review of durandal for XBLA that if you played halo 2 multiplayer then one of the maps should be familar... that PROVES that there in the same universe

Right.
Halo 3's ending is the opening scene for the first Marathon game. So Marathon(a game that was made before the Halo trilogy) is Halo 4.
you dont need to prove anything, we've all known this for months if not years. Marathon first came out in 94 or something, then Bungie made Halo based on the same universe, just 200 years previously.
I don't think Marathon will be as good as Halo, mainly cos the name sucks.
the story dont bother me, only owned halo 3 so i was just down for the ethnic clensing of the aliens. and to play online which is what i buy a game like halo for, online first, story 2nd.
feel sorry tho for those who proper loved the story and not online because like most the multiplayer heavey shooters they are very short in the length of the campain. seems to be a growing trend. look at gears, call of dutys and halo 3. most people are online with they xboxs but that shouldnt be a reason to think that its fine to make such a short campain mode. i used to think if a game was only 20-25 hours long it was a very short game, lets face it, if your hammering that game and its only got 20 hours in then its no problem to complete it in 2 weeks if your on it regulary. now thats long by todays standards, when it seems some games think under 10 hours is fine.
it dont bother me too much because i buy these games for online and sometimes dont hammer the single player much at all. but i think they shouldnt rely on online side of things to carry the game. as it should be more balanced. at least games like cod and halo etc should offer the options to at least put bots in any local games for deathmatches etc. after all that solves the probelm of not being able to play online and still offer that part of the gam to people. as its poor playing something like halo3 on split screen against just 1-3 other people, the same people all the time. not excatly hard to add bots. i used to love fifhting them on perfect dark on my nes64 and also on unreal and quake 3 when my pc couldnt access the net. then i think it would be more acceptable to cut short the campain. but really all 3 options shud be included and 20 hours plus i think should be a minimum for any single player game. none of that 7 hour crack, i honestly feel sorry for people who buy games like this who are strictly offline. nothing worse than buying a game you been looking forward to and you complete it with a day or two and cant go online with it.

Umm, there are a lot of people saying that Bungie stated there would be no more Halo games, that Halo 3 was the last one.
That's not what they said at all... They said Halo 3 will be the end of the Master Chief's story arc. That doesn't mean there are no more Halo games. That means there is no more Master Chief, Cortana, Arbiter, or any of the characters from Halo 1-3. There will be more Halo Games, also remakes of the Marathon games are confirmed.

Rawr! Well that's great news. I'll miss Master Chief and Cortana though. Even the Arbiter. If this is all true, that is.
I won't miss cortana I hate her. I don't want marathon I want MaSTER CHEIF MAN: Dead planets it would be a platformer. I kinda like the ending just because it leaves it a little open maybe the cheif will show up in one of the new marathon games.
Marathon is on XBLA right now though.

I'm sure they could probably make cameo appearances in the new games, but they will not be main characters or anything. (Just thought I should clarify, because I made it sound like you'd never see them ever again... ever. Haha.)
Hammer of Dawn? are u sure ur talking about the right game?HaloX5
Ok the Hammer of Dawn is a gun i think also from Gears of War but Commander Keyes (miranda) ship is called the Hammer of Dawn. The Ark - Checkpoint Alpha - says From Unto The Dawn - or close to that.
Commander Miranda Keyes' ship in Halo 3 is called "Forward Unto Dawn." Miranda Keyes voiced by Justis Bolding who isn't bad by the way.
There better be a Halo 4 or Halo 3 had the worst ending ever.SSCyborg
Have you EVER played Halo2? :?
EXACTLY! if you think halo 3's ending was bad you should look at halo 2 lmao! halo 3 had a decent 2 different endings
You people need to read the books. Ever heard of the planet Onyx? That's what Chief and Cortana are floating to - that is what makes the Halo trilogy lead into Marathon.
For the noobs: Onyx is where the other Spartans and the person that Cortana took the body of either fled or were sent there.
Definitions:
Trilogy: Three things in sequence
AS IN: Halo 3 is the last Halo game. Halo Wars takes you to BEFORE Halo 1 even happened. It's taking you to Reach, the first battle where UNSCDF and the Covenant battle. The battle was lost and UNSCDF fled on the Pillar of Autumn - where Halo 1 takes place. The games lead on from there.
Put 2 and 2 together please. :D
Basically it says "You've Finished the Fight and take break, but lets start another."
Or simply Halo 1 was GREAT, Halo 2 Dropped like a rock, and 3 Just Blew like the wind so lets try again.
I enjoyed Halo for the most part but I was really wanting the Hype to live up to the NEW HD Era of gaming. I still say its another Cliff hanger of an ending. Another door for more Halo, or maybe they will let it rest.
If u ever read the halo comics tht mysterious planet it cortanas home planet, Onyx and i have a feeling that cortana Was made by the forrunners
just a thought :p
Manni25
You sir, need to not read the comics but the books. Cortana is UNSCDF AI. What Spark says at the end of Halo 3; "You are forerunner" is told to the Chief.
Onyx is where the Spartans and the Dr. overseeing the Spartan II Project are.
