I also remember the original Metroid and The Adventure of Link having really good game worlds at the time I played them.

And Your Answer? :| Out of This World and Chrono Trigger made pretty amazing worlds for SNES, ICO and SoTC were fantastic on PS.... For 360 i would say Dark Souls, and Just Cause have something i always want to go back and see.

the milky way from mass effect, and Ferelden from Dragon Age: Origins. Oh, and definitely Rapture from the Bioshock games. Those are three of my favorites

Prey

It took so many formulas, peed on all of them, and gave us a game unlike anything we'd played before

1) Rapture, from the first Bioshock game.

2) The wastelands of Fallout 3.

3) The various cityscapes from theDeus Ex series.

4) The tropical settings of Far Cry/2.

On the Xbox 360 I'm going to say Tales of Vesperia.

Other good, strong games include Final Fantasy XIII's Cocoon and Gran Pulse, Eternal Sonata's imagining of Chopin's final dream, Mass Effect's fully-realized sci-fi universe, Halo's fully-realized sci-fi universe, and Fallout: New Vegas' vision of the Western wasteland (though I played New Vegas on PC) and Bastion's vision of The Calamity in Caelondia (though I also played that on PC).

There are many worlds I'd think would be interesting to be placed in. -Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Tamriel) -Bioshock (Rapture) -Final Fantasy 6 -Fallout 3 -Halo 2 -Tales of Symphonia -Mass Effect -Mario 64/Castlevania Portrait of Ruin (just the idea of jumping into paintings)

Rapture(Bioshock) for the 360 but otherwise I'd say Oddworld's Stranger's Wrath, loved to get lost in that game.

I would say Rapture is the most imaginative... however my personal favorite world is either the world of Dark Souls or Dragon Age

The original Mass Effect (I found the majority of the sequel's environments to be interesting, but far too linear to leave any sort of impact on me), and Rapture.

Skyrim. Sometimes the game is just breath taking and I often see myself staring at the massive land scape while a-top a high mountain. The night sky is also filled with incredible beauty especially at night time up in the north where the sky lights up as the aruras shine above. The world is just filled with soo much life and beautiful scenery that it completly sucks me in.
