What Kinect hardware do I need?

I can't seem to find any info about what actual hardware, other than the sensor/camera thingy that you need for Kinect!

It says that it is compatible with every 360... but when the new 360 was launched - it called itself 'Kinect Ready'... which would indicate that the normal 360 is not ready!

Please help, or point me to a place with answers :-)
