I owned a PS2 before that, but when I started looking into next-gen consoles, I found that the 360 had way more future titles that I was actually interested in.
I chose the 360 because I feel it has the better catalogue of games. In general, the 360 has the better exclusives and, in terms of who the 360 cater to (hardcore gamers), the 360 just appealed to me way more. It wasn't a case of money, it was simply what I thought was the better console. I feel the 360 has surprised a lot of people as the PS3 was labelled as the best tecnological advancement this century (LMAO) and really it hasn't lived up to that. What games does the PS3 have, apart from MGS4, that makes you want to play it? Most people use the PS3 as a blue-ray player so it goes to show that, if Microsoft had included a built in blue-ray player, they would have effectively won the market. At the end of the day, it is preference and yes, the PS3 is a damn good console. I mean, in terms of graphics etc, the two systems are identical. But, for the genre of games I play, Xbox Live, the 360 controller, I just feel that the 360 offers me more as a gamer then what the PS3 could.
The fact that the 360 is the new ps2. The ps2 had all of the games, but the xbox had the better capabilities. this time around the ps3 has the better capabilities while the 360 has all of the games except for mgs4 as or right now.
First, the selection of games on the 360 was more promising. Second,I could not justify dishing out all that loot for basically a blu-ray player (ps3), when I have like a 300 dvd collection and a upscaled, progressive scan DVD play will look almost as good. Third, at launch, the PS3s were still buring up in testing. The 360s hareware seemed more stable at the time (rrod not withstanding). Forth, XBL. Fifth, the controller rumbled.
The main reson for me was the library of amazing and mature suphisticated games, also the power of the console is a definite selling point. Xbox Live and Marketplace were also a reason i chose 360 over ps3, cause i can wait to get a cheap ps3 for a blu-ray player but with the 360 i can rent the movies right off the Marketplace and buy tv show seasons and episodes. The arcade games are awseome too, and i liked how the 360 had Acjievements and was the first Console to do anything like that. The ps3 bllatently copying the Wii motion controlls aslo had a lot to do with it, cause i hate how sony copys every thing (even though now i hear both Consoles are trying to steal the motion controlls and Remote designe).
basically dead rising, i couldn't wait for a ps3 was too impatient, but then i turned well a 360 fanboy but then i brought a ps3 and got the best of both worlds.
I was a former PC gamer who didn't want to spend money on upgrades and even if I did, i would miss out on a lot of my beloved franchises (Soul Calibur for example).
to sum it up,
-I had the original Xbox -My friends had one -More choices IMO -RE5, Soul Calibur IV, Lost Odyssey, you name it -XBLA games like UMK3 and Ikaruga -I was raised with a console. Even though I began with Nintendo, E3 2007 couldn't convince me to get the Wii (got 360 in 07 btw)
The day the PS3 launched Future Shop had a massive 360 sale, dropping $50 off the Premium system and including two games on top of the pack-ins. So $450 got me a 360, that Live Arcade pack, GRAW, Ridge Racer 6, and Gears of War, which was a great deal and more than $100 off what I would have paid just to get the console and Gears. It was also kind of an amusing middle finger to Sony, who were selling 60GB PS3s that day for $660.
Had the original Xbox and this one just seemed to fit in line with that one. What keeps me there are the games, controller, design and overall usability. I found it very easy to get into the xbox 360 with the media features.
I had The original Xbox, Which was good. So In 2004 when I Heard that "Xbox 2" was coming. I had to have one. Although my Xbox 360 is being repaired/in transit. Xbox 360 is a good System.
Quite frankly I don't think I was ever going to get a Xbox360. But a friend got it and I didn't want to wait for a PS3 so I caved and got one. At the time it seemed like a stupid thing to do, but quite frankly I've found that, ever since, the Xbox360 was the best consol I could have bought.
yup same here, bought it for PC, fell in love, ran into some money troubles so instead of starving i sold my pc, ended up with a 360 shortly after and realized Oblivion was out for it, such a good game, i love my 360
I thought it was time to get a new console, got tired of my gamecube and ps2, second reason was halo3, gta4, turok and a bunch of other games coming out for the 360, I love my 360
