As soon as I got my HD television, I just had to get an XBOX360, I bought the premium version and have had a lot of fun with it so far (some disappointments here and there) but it was gears of war, call of duty 3, saints row and R6:Vegas that made me decide on which console to get.I am not really interested in the type of gameplay the Wii is offering and the PS3 was not out yet. But even if it was I still would have gone Xbox360
Well i was a sony fanboy for years but the price of these new consoles made me do some research before buyibg. I actually read everything i coul find out about both systems and the user reviews from this site helped a lot. My dumazz had the 360 hooked up wrong to my Hd tv for a month before i finally realized i wasnt playing in HD. The night i hooked the Hd up correct WOW i was in heaven it was a night and day difference

Those are basically all of my reasons. All my friends have 360s, not PS3s if they have either. Great games, good controller, used to playing on it, cool interface, etc.
3 words third party support. I've said it before and I'll say it again that's what makes or breaks a console, and the 360s got the best 3rd part support.
The games, it's all about the variety of games. Now that Sony have lost most of their exlusives and Microsoft has stolen Hironobu Sakaguchi, Mastermind behind Final Fantasy series, from Square-Enix(among others) to work for Mistwalker, you really can't go wrong.
I was going to buy a Wii until I saw the only games that i was interested in where going to be released until november-december 07 (Played Zelda Tp at the good, old gamecube). I had lots of cash in hand I didn't know what to do with. I decided to buy a 300 watt bass amplifier. I was tottaly decided to buy that amp until I saw Gears, Oblivion, and all those games coming out. So I bougth the XBOX. The 300 watt amp can wait.
To be honest, I only bought the 360 because there were no Wii's to be had. So I decided since Nintendo wasn't smart enough to produce enough f their next gen consoles (an issue they have yet to resolve 8 months later), they can rot in hell and I'd give Microsoft my money. And although my 360 died today (although I only play it about once a month...if that!), I don't regret my purchase. Hopefully, I'll have it back from Microsoft by the time GTA4 comes out. Suck it, Nintendo!
I bought a original Xbox a year and a couple month when it was release because I want to try the old Xbox game. I played all the game I wanted to play and then I starve for more game. I then look forward to the 360 because it has many titles coming out. Also I want it mostly because of Halo 3.
I was really happy with the original Xbox and most of the games I wanted to play were cross-platform anyway (although the 360 exculsives like Halo3 and Mass Effect helped too).
i was gonna get all the systems eventually... but i got bored of waiting ( wanted to get a ps3 first) so i just bought it.. plus i wanted to play graw...i havent been too disappointed... the system itself is annoying but the games are pretty good... no amazing games yet but im sure ill get one either on here or the other console... i've got high hoped for assasins creed though...
I bought the original Xbox about mid-cycle last time around. It was my 1st non-Nintendo console (as it was the 1st time a Nintendo console had been unable to satiate me and the 1st time I had a significant interest in the games of another system) and built up a ton of goodwill with me. As a result, I am the proud owner of a launch 360.
What really made me want to get a 360 was all the hype surrounding it. All the excitement, ridiculously over-priced sales on eBay, and availability shortages made me mad curious about it. I'd never seen mass hysteria like that before and wanted to see what it was all about.
