Nothing, Halo 3 is better IMO. Maybe cause those games are really different as you pointed out yourself, apples and oranges. For me Halo 3 is absolutely the best FPS I've ever played, both campaign and multi. This game rocks, period.

Have you played COD4 long enough to make a judgement though?

Well first of all the COD4 multiplayer has a upgrade system that allows amazing customization and has incredible replay value, though the singleplayer side was a let down for me(though it did have a few good levels). If you are a Halo fan which would be probably the number 1 reason most people bought a 360, it is not a horrible game by far, but it is nothing amazing either. Halo is GOOD game it continues the story and gives us Halo fan's closure of sorts, and the multiplayer aspect is a like H2 on crack and unless your a kid on uppers you will not be able to keep up. In my opinion I have played all the Halo's and was a huge fan of the first one, and if you are going to be playing these games for multiplayer I would be pick COD4, and for singleplayer I would choose Halo. But it again depends on where your interest ... Oh and have a nice day! 8)

It's not a judgement, its my opinion : ) Finished both in single player and I enjoyed H3 a lot better than COD4 (which is brilliant as well, but didn't quite made the impact on me). Halo's single was so good, it made me play for another month online and I enjoyed it as well. I tried COD but didn't quite fit into the action. That's just my experience, maybe cause I'm not a big fan of realistic settings in games, I much prefer sci-fi.

this thread has been done too many times...why don't you make the logical decision and rent them to find out which one you like the best

The realism in COD4 multiplayer in which a person dies with 2 to 3 bullets is great compared to the fairy tales etched in halo 3 where you have to pull out all the stops to kill ur opponent. The single player in cod4 is fast paced and the story is just plain fun. All the action in the single player combined with the amount of realism in the multiplayer proves that CoD4 is tons better than halo 3.

Thats an honest opinion. No grudges and no hate mails.

Call of Duty 4 is my vote.

The replay value on multiplayer is absolutely flooring. I booked a total of 3 days and 20 hours ( it keeps track) on the multiplayer alone, and I beat the campaign on normal and veteran.

You should rent them, but, if you like online with a bunch of 11 year olds who are fanatical, and scream at their mom to get them more monster so they can stay up later to PWN DEM NOOBS.

If you like some real gameplay, realistic(to an extent) gameplay, and a badass game engine, I would go for COD4.

Its just much more fun, but, I loved halo2, and, i felt halo3 was total trash in comparison to halo2 or COD4

It's all a matter of preferences, really.

Most of the X-box user base played nothing but Halo. So they really didn't know anything else.

Then along comes another super hyped game, Call of Duty 4, and since it's different and fun those people so use to Halo thought Call of Duty 4 was somthing new and revolutionary.

When in fact, if they had actually played the first three, they'd know 4 wasnt really anything special.

I wouldn't say Call of Duty 4 is better. It's just a different kind of shooter. And if you never played Call of Duty, you may benefit from getting this one.

But personally I prefer Halo 3. The only thing from Call Duty I prefered is sprinting, really. The gameplay is great for Halo, I like it more than CoD4 for including vehicles and I like the maps much more. The campaign is longer and has 4-player co-op and the theater, forge and file share pretty much blew CoD4 out of the water for me.

their both great though, and having both certainly can't hurt.

Just to tell you I bought Halo 3 first because I wanted to play multiplayer with my friends and co-op. But Cod 4's online even byureself is just better. You have more people playing online, more modes, you can customize perks and have a clan etc... Halo 3's single player wasn't that great actually imo it was boring in most parts. Unlike cod4 short but movielike was really good but then again you wouldn't wanna play through it again.

Heres the bottom line though. I like cod4 better because most of the time I'm not playing with friends and I can play bymyself. While halo3 on byureself isn't as good as cod4 when your playing byureself. But if you have friends over alot love to co-op just love to make maps and play with friends then halo3 is better trust me you can get a bit of racing out of halo3 with forge and jaws out of it i've really enjoyed that alot. Still I like the weapons the realism and I like realistic games so I'm going with Cod4.

My gamertag is xxMidget when you get gears 2 add me lol.

Let me just add, that vehicles in halo3 are pretty useless and you'll end out getting naded and owned or they just are overpowered and ruin the game such as the banshees. Theirs a ranking system ingame for cod4 you don't have to go online to check it like halo3 and theres more little reasons why i like cod4 but you'll just have to get it to see why i like it more.

COD4 had a better ranking system IMO. i also like their modes better. Swords Slayer my ass. Halo 3 is still fun and it doesn't hurt to have both, but COD4's my definite choice.

Halo 3s multiplayer is better by far, thats just my opinion. If you want added realism play team swat becuase it only take one shot with a battle rifle to the head to kill someone.

I beat COD4 on Veteran(including MHC) and I put in about 5 days and 10 hours of play time and now I'm just tired of it. I still enjoy Halo 3 now but I get tired of it after playing around 8 games. Now Gears on the other hand, I never get tired of it. I could play it all day.

The realism "proves" that Call of Duty 4 is better than Halo? Describing a shooter as "realistic," and saying that makes it better than another is a spurious argument. Especially in the case of Halo, where there is a logical, in-game explanation for the player's avatar being able to take massive damage. I always thought the suspension of disbelief in Halo worked just fine. Team Fortress must be the worst shooter out there, since there is no explanation as to how the characters--most of whom wear no body armor--are able to sustain such grevious injuries. Furthermore, America's Army on PC must be better than Call of Duty. To take it another step into absurdity, by this realism argument, all games that involve magic (Oblivion) are inferior to games that do not involve magic (Project Gotham 3), since there is no scientific explanation for one game's magical effects.

Did it occur to you that it's not very realistic to have two squad-sized elements of soldiers, fighting in a tiny space of land for no other purpose than to kill each other, who are constantly re-materialized every time they die? It's about as realistic as Valhalla and Unreal Tournament.

The most recent "realistic" experience I've had as a shooter was on the Pointe du Hoc level of Call of Duty 2 on Veteran. I scaled the cliffs, took too steps, and BAM, I was dead; no warning, no indicating I was even targetted by anyone, I was just dead. I thought, "Huh, I guess that was pretty realistic." It also wasn't very much fun.

Halo3 is better for LAN parties. With four XBOXs, 16 people can play in the same match. With CoD4 you'd need 16 XBOXs for16 people to play in the same match.

Yeah I almost forgot about that. CoD4 really isnt a game for friend. No split screen for online. And for no reason, you have less maps for local multiplayer.

No, you never have to lead your target in Call of Duty, always put your crosshair right on them no matter how fast they are moving.

Halo 3 may seem like it has alot of variety but it really does not. Most of the guns are uneffective and half the vehicles you can't use in mathmaking, the Forge mode is really frusterating and isn't worth your time and the theatre isn't used that much. After a little bit Halo 3 gets real old, the exact opposite of Cod 4, it gets better over time because you can use every weapon effectively and there are alot of perks to use, plus IMO the gameplay is better. And yes you do have to shoot ahead of people if they're running sideways.

Most of the guns are uneffective if you don't use them properly. All of the guns can be deadly if you know how to use them.

And the only vehicle that are not used in matchmaking are the transport hog and the prowler.

Forge is awsome.

Theatre is used as much as you want.

Halo 3 can last you a long time. And all those modes help to extend the life.

You don't have to lead your shot with any guns in Halo, unless your using them outside their intended ranges.

And it's a common technique in every shooter to lead your shots a little with the sniper rifle.

depends on what you want from a multiplayer game. halo 3 is completley balanaced and takes alot of skill to kill people and the match making on the ranked playlists make you play people the same skill as you so the game is very even. cod4 is eaiser to get into for people not as good at fps games, dead easy to kill people and a bit faster game, also has perks which make call of duty a bit more casual than it used to be, as some of them will get you kills without you actually having to do much people who usually cant get into halo 3 are usually those who aint that good at it or expect people to die straight away on the first few bullets, usually its because most of the weapons are very balanced so it takes away alot of the easy kills - for instance if you have a machine gun style weapon then its going to takle most of the clip to take someone down rather than in cod4 just a short few bullet burst, and any weapons that do have quick kills usually have drawbacks to compensate to even it out (like long loading times or long times in between uses) if your bad at fps games online with cod4 you will still get alot of kills, but will struggle more with halo halos more a balanced game. id get both if your into shooters myself, as they are both banging games and halos going for cheap prices 2nd hand now as well. cod4 is still a class blast and great fun online, halo for me though offers more of a challenge, some of the games on the ranked matches, espieally for 1 man per team games are so even if you have the right true skill rank for your abilities. most matchs i play going upto 25 usually end up with everyone over 20 kills, quite close games. where when ever i play cod4 it just always seemed like most other games to just put you with people in the playlists for the same game type. i never used to like cod4 as well putting you in the middle of games that have already started. used to do that to me alot. but between cod4 and halo3 if you get both they are both great games and offer 2 different styles of shooters and in both games you should find alot of your friends list have them as wellm, so they good games if you want a game that people usually play every day with people on your friends list

Well, if I hdnt just checked your live profile to see that you hadnt played Halo 3 in over four month and that you don't even have the over kill, too close to the sun or the Headshot honcho achievements you might actually be able to say that.

If the game didn't require skill you might actually have those achievements....

I'd like to see the excuse for why the game is unbalanced.

Okay, my personal opinion is to get them both. That may not be an option for you, but if it is, then do so by all means. They are both great games with HUGE multiplayer communities, and being close-minded and only playing one means you miss out on a great multiplayer experience.

Call of Duty 4 has an awesome, and incredibly time consuming rank system that keeps you busy for months. No jokes.

Halo has a great community, and lots of fun game types, weapons and vehicles. It's also probably the better game for someone new to FPS.

As for the shooting in front of someone while there running thing, Call of Duty is probably better for that sort of thing. Halo contains alot of jumping around, and there is no running. The bast tactic is to just open fire.

Hope I helped!

ive played both for 15+ hours.

I enjoyed CoD4 more.

One reason i think is because Halo 3 players have mostly all played Hlao2 meaning they have been playing for 4 years or so, which makes the community tougher. but the ranking system does a good job pairing you up well most of the time.

CoD 4 has perks that allow you to in depth choose what kind of player you want to be, and to me delivers better moer intence firefights.

But they are both unbelievable.

I liked the pacing of the gameplay better in CoD. To me it just moves faster and flows better. The maps seem better desgined. and I love the class system, I like being able to pick a weapon loadout to suit the situation.

I put about 3 days and a couple of hours into CoD 4 compared to the week of hours I have put in Halo. CoD 4 I admit was pretty awesome for a while, but then it got boring. Being killed in about 2 shots made it lack a lot of intense 1 on 1 battles. And about the only playlist I really love is Ground War.

1.you have to lead shots in COD4 much more than in Halo. Hell, in Halo 3, you don't even need to lead your shots. Not sure where you got that from but w/e

2. I personally don't play either anymore, they got old. But COD4 has customizable options for multiplayer. Halo 3 has map and film editing. COD4 is modern. Halo 3 is fake.

3. As far as skill goes, I find both games incredibly easy (when I played them of course)

Really I prefer COD4, but that's purely my opinion, there's no good reason for it. It's really a toss up. Oh and btw, both games have horrendous LIVE communities.

[QUOTE="TX360"]

[QUOTE="djrobst"]depends on what you want from a multiplayer game. halo 3 is completely balanced and takes a lot of skill to kill people and the match making on the ranked playlists make you play people the same skill as you so the game is very even. cod4 is eaiser to get into for people not as good at fps games, dead easy to kill people and a bit faster game, also has perks which make call of duty a bit more casual than it used to be, as some of them will get you kills without you actually having to do much people who usually cant get into halo 3 are usually those who aint that good at it or expect people to die straight away on the first few bullets, usually its because most of the weapons are very balanced so it takes away alot of the easy kills - for instance if you have a machine gun style weapon then its going to takle most of the clip to take someone down rather than in cod4 just a short few bullet burst, and any weapons that do have quick kills usually have drawbacks to compensate to even it out (like long loading times or long times in between uses) if your bad at fps games online with cod4 you will still get alot of kills, but will struggle more with halo halos more a balanced game. id get both if your into shooters myself, as they are both banging games and halos going for cheap prices 2nd hand now as well. cod4 is still a class blast and great fun online, halo for me though offers more of a challenge, some of the games on the ranked matches, espieally for 1 man per team games are so even if you have the right true skill rank for your abilities. most matchs i play going upto 25 usually end up with everyone over 20 kills, quite close games. where when ever i play cod4 it just always seemed like most other games to just put you with people in the playlists for the same game type. i never used to like cod4 as well putting you in the middle of games that have already started. used to do that to me alot. but between cod4 and halo3 if you get both they are both great games and offer 2 different styles of shooters and in both games you should find alot of your friends list have them as wellm, so they good games if you want a game that people usually play every day with people on your friends listvashkey

that first line i marked in bold meant i could not take your post serious.

Well, if I hdnt just checked your live profile to see that you hadnt played Halo 3 in over four month and that you don't even have the over kill, too close to the sun or the Headshot honcho achievements you might actually be able to say that.

If the game didn't require skill you might actually have those achievements....

I'd like to see the excuse for why the game is unbalanced.

actually I agree with TX. I can't take your post seriously either.

Palantas

Alright man easy there....Calm down a bit. That was just my opinion. Yet you cant deny that its single player campaign is just so fast paced and amzing that it makes u wish there was more and more.

But we all have different opinions so lets just cheer up and relax. No grudges at all. Cheers!:)

Have people forgotten that we play video games to get out of reality? So what if Halo is not modern warfare or realistic. Mass Effect and other great games aren't either.

Agree, that is a good point. Like I said, I don't play either games anymore. I wasn't bashing halo when I said it was fake, I was simply stating the truth.

But then again, I don't really go out and kill terrorists in Russia and the Middle East on a daily basis either...

mad how people saying cod4 is realistic. no run and gun is, all thats realistitc is the games based in modern time, theys not much in cod4 that you would do if you were in the same situations for real. neither game is meant to be realistic they just meant to be fun.

Ok I see. I thought you said it was bad because it wasn't modern (realistic). It's petpeeve of mine if someone would say a game is not good because its not realistic.

Alright man easy there....Calm down a bit. That was just my opinion...

ahmedbilal1993

Your original post was not an expression of opinion. It was a statement of deductive fact. Let's revisit it:

All the action in the single player combined with the amount of realism in the multiplayer proves that CoD4 is tons better than halo 3.

ahmedbilal1993

And that's what I took issue with, highlighted in the very first sentence of my post:

The realism "proves" that Call of Duty 4 is better than Halo?

I

An expression of opinion would have read something like this:

I greatly prefer Call of Duty 4 over Halo, because of realism/etc....

ahmedbilal1993 could have

So yeah, I can't argue your opinion, and you're welcome to like whatever games suit you. However, the notion of a game's setting or pseudo-realism "proving" that it's superior to another in the same genre is an absurd position, and one I think you've backed away from.

HALO 3 has tons more content and more variety but I still liked cod 4 because of it's gunplay, realism but most of all that the framerate was so good. 60 fps for a shooter is so awesome.

COD4 all the way, it's too addictive. There's nothing better than playing with real guns, instead of crappy little lasers or needles.

They're both pretty much the same to me :?. I just prefer CoD4 cause it's easy to find a game and get it going. Halo 3 tends to be a little slow when it comes to starting a match >_> and by the time the match starts i dont wanna play.
