hey guys i was just wondring about what " save progress " system in games do you like ?

1- Auto save system: that the game save your progress automatically when you reach checkpoints.

2- The save devices system: that you have stop infront of some kind of device to save ( like Dead Space )

3- You can only save after the end of every chapter system: like Ninja Blade

4- Or you just like the free system that allow you to save everywhere you want.

for myself i like the last system

your opinions please

:)

either 1 or 4.

Autosave just makes it easy to play through a game and restart and I prefer it for harder games.

Freesave can get frustrating if you simply forget to save which is its only real downfall.

just my 2 cents

Depends on the game. Usually I prefer No.4 but for intense games like the orginal Resident Evil series, I prefer having to locate a save location. Sure, it's REALLY frustrating when you're about to or do actually die but that's what made the game (except in the case of Dead Rising which was just cruel). And for shooters, I prefer the checkpoint system.

I like to save anytime, anywhere. I don't mind saving my game manually often. Save device system isn't actually too bad in my opinion.

Number 4, being able to save anytime/anywhere you want is the best system.

1 and 4 for me. I think number four is essential in many RGPS. Pokemon springs to mind.

#2 & #3 are mostly about making saving a gameplay element. In terms of saving, a combination of #1 & #4 is best.

#4. Save anywhere, pick up where you saved is best IMO. But #1 is good also.

#1 for games like RE5, which IMO had checkpoints set pretty logically.

#4 for games like Fallout 3 where you have so many choices you can make it would be stupid not to let you save whenever you want.

I'm playing Silent Hill Homecoming right now and I'm so ticked at how spread out the save locations are (yeah yeah, part of the "tension" of the genre) and how randomly it seems the game chooses checkpoints to start you from when you continue after a death. I'll keep my complaints in this thread limiited to the save issues I have with the game.

I like 1 and 4 put together. You can save almost whenever you want but it also autosaves whenever you do anything important.

1 and 4 together definetly, butI like being able to load any chapter I want. Like in Gears of War. Saving Devices is cool too.

4 - being able to save whenever you want. Coming from a background of mainly PC gaming this has always been an option and works very well. Now that consoles have easily enough capacity to store as many saves as you want, this system should be available in most games

Depends on the game. Save system of Gears of War is pretty perfect in my opinion. Plenty checkpoints for autosaving and you can replay any part of the game afterwards. Games get too easy when you can save anywhere.

Agreed. Far Cry 2 is a great example.
