I use that $70 linksys router they sell at Bestbuys. I bought it about a year ago, so it might not be $70 anymore. But I use it with my wireless network adaptor and it works great.

I use a D-Link DIR-625 Platinum Series. Works like a charm with my wireless adapter and my laptop.

I use a Linksys WRT54G v6 that I bought from Radioshack a year ago for $75, it is currently running custom firmware DD-WRT v.24 RC6.2. The WRT54Gs are solid routers, but the newer versions are a little weaker. If you plan to do customize your router a lot, I would recommend getting a WRT54GL.

Same, excellent routers and not very expensive anymore. I remember I bought mine for like $220 (can) and now they are much cheaper.

Oh, oops. LOL. You guys are talking about the reciever. I mean the chip that you put in the 360. I'v looked around, and I see two types of adapters: Laptop and desktop. Which one should I use?

Comcast's Linksys Router works like a charm. My Xbox is far away from it (different room) and I never have any connection problems.

I dont know exactly what you're asking...

You can either hardwire your 360 to you router with a CAT 5 cable or you can use a compatible wireless adapter such as this.

EDIT: Note however, to use the wireless adapter you need to have a wireless router.

So the 360s don't have a slot for a standard adapter?

If you're talking about wireless express cards for laptops and stuff like that, no the don't. All the 360 has for internet is a standard CAT 5 Ethernet port on the back and there are a few wireless adapters that use the USB port.

I'm not familiar with the routers that Verizon gives with their Fios service, but I'd try using it before dropping money on a new router. I'm sure it gets the job done.

If you have cable the cable company can install a wireless router for you. It ran 100 dollars for them to install it. It was a Net Gear wireless router. All of the equipment needed was included and there was no monthly additional charge. All tech help is free even if they have to come to your home to correct problems. Important to ask for the WTP password, you will need that password to connect your 360 to the computer and the router. You will really enjoy it, once its up and running.
