I just bought an Xbox 360 and was ready to hook it up to my HD tv with the HDMI wire I bought and the wire dosent fit. WTF?

Xbox 360 doesent do HD? I looked on the Internet and apparently I have bought the 1st gen version and apparently that doesent have HD features. Crazy, or not? Is there anything, like an add-on that can make my 360 go HD? Im desperate! Halo 3 looks crapin standard quality.

it supports hd, if you bought the one with a hard drive just use the green, red, and blue, AV cables unless you got an elite or the HALO one with the HDMI ports. and unless you got it used there is no way you got a gen.1 360 if you did that sux bro

Only recent models have HDMI. Every model has components, though. Component is the minimum requirement for an HD signal, not HDMI. :|

Does your Xbox have a HDMI port or not? What are you trying to plug the HDMI cable into? Of course the 360 does HD, are you referring to HDMI?

HDMI is not the only connection capable of outputting an HD resolution. Whoever told you that is full of ****. Use component and flip the switch on the A/V cable to HDTV.

3 cables (red white yellow)= composite = SD

5 cables (yellow blue red white red) = component = HD

Red and white cables are for the sound, while the yellow cable is the video output. Component cables output the video through 3 cables instead of one (green, red, and blue), which allows for more video data to be transferred. In other words, HD. In other words, this: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360componenthdcable/

If you only have the AV cables (which only came with a Core pack... it sounds like you bought your 360 used, which would have been a Core where someone bought an HDD). From what I can tell, they don't even sell plain AV cables... just Components, VGA, and S-Video (this one can't do HD).

Hang on a minute... if you have an early 360, there won't be any place to put that HDMI cable.
