Start little bit in the future so have weapons from this time period. Have a core soldiers be able to time travel in the past with these weapons into key battles over time.
I voted other, because I think it should bet set in a non-existent era and to make the game seem more realistic, the case should come without a disc.:)
I would say just pump out another mediocre WWII game, since Infinity Ward isn't working on it.
Just let Treyarch make their WWII game, then next time around when it is Infinity Ward's turn, they can make another modern warfare.
I think if they pumped out modern shooters everytime, it would start to get stale. Especially if Treyarch makes them.

I agree. Why change the rotation when things are working so well. - COD2 (great)- Cod3 (Pretty Good) -COD4 (incredible)- COD 5 (uh well see)- COD Modern Warfare 2 ( TBA)
after playing the sas missions i would really like cod5 to be about the cold war or the cuba crisis. maybe some covert missions and a huge conflict that is eventually kept secret from the public
They should make it futuristic. Then the next time they make one it should be vietnam. I believe they should keep switching time periods and not make Modern then modern because it'll probably seem too similar without much change.
They should go with Modern warfare again, Just ad more weopons,vehicles, maps, and different forces to the game, like: Rangers, Green berets etc..... But definatley keep the Marines in there. If they add all that stuff, then that would beone hell of a buy. I am not ready for modern future warfare, and i am deinetley not reay to go back to nam and no way in hell to WWII.
I'd like to see modern or WWII but with a 'alternate reality' twist. Like what if the Nazis had landed on North American soil. Like Turining Point, but you know actually good.
A couple joke options but i would love to play it if it was made:
Call of Duty 5: Clone Wars (or any other star wars event) you know you would love to see the CoD engine and gameplay in a star wars game.

Call of Duty 5: Apocolypse - post apocolyptic world where surviving humans must team up to defeat a zombie infection!
VIETNAM!!! I would kill for a good vietnam game.c.rawling through tunnles..fighting in intense brush with destroyable trees and such..would be freaking awsome..seems everyone has a stick up their arses about vietnam though..get voer it thats what i say
As long as it has a decent length single player campaign this time around and a cohesive story, they can stick that game in whatever time period they want. But if I had to pick . . . modern.
