We won't be able to replace Xbox One's memory. But these 500 GB will be over pretty soon because of installing. The next generation games take more space on a disk. Somebody suggests to hook up an additional HDD outside the console. But it would look terribly, as for me. It might take more space on a shelf. So what is your opinions here? parazels
Wait and see how much space the games take up

The next gen games will take much more space than now. There is no doubt about it. Add demos and apps. I can't imagine the gamer who this hdd is enough to. To make a long story short you will use 500 GB up in one or two years.Only keep the 30+ games on there that you play the most. Seriously...it's not that big a deal. You can play as you load it to the HD. All that means is you must play the game long enough to load it. Otherwise...it makes no difference.HilbillyRokstar
I don't think i will ever play 30 games which are installed on my hardrive.
Uninstall the ones you no longer play or stop worrying about how everything will look and get the external harddrive. People make things so complicated these days.Â
1. The X1 will allow you to play your games AS you install them. This means you can uninstall any of your older games that you're not playing anymore. If you feel like playing them again, simply put them into your console and play them as they install in the background.
2. External HDD. You can buy a 1Tb drive for under $100, and it's actually quite small and compact. Hook it up to a USB port in the back of the console and leave it out of sight. I highly doubt you'll ever need any more space than that, but you can go even bigger if you want.
3. Cloud gaming is going to be possible on the X1. You can save game files and other things to the cloud, freeing up space on your console.
Whoa, I had no idea that the xb1 could do any of that. Thanks for the info. But I did hear that you can hook a 360 to the xb1. How does that work? Is this the xb1s form of backwards compatibility, or is it just for Memory transfer and extra storage? Anybody know?1. The X1 will allow you to play your games AS you install them. I agree, I think people are overblowing the lack of memory on the Xbox-One.Just saw an article today that the X1 won't support external HDDs at launch but that they plan to add that support later. Makes me nervous about just how far into the future "later" is.2. External HDD. You can buy a 1Tb drive for under $100, and it's actually quite small and compact. Makes me nervous about just how far into the future "later" is. I'm sure it won't be a long wait. Maybe a few months. The Xbox One isn't launching in all markets right away so it could have something to do with that. Either way Microsoft has said in the past the X1 will support external hard drives, so there's nothing to worry about. You certainly won't need any extra storage at release. There won't be enough games available yet to fill up the HDD.2. External HDD. You can buy a 1Tb drive for under $100, and it's actually quite small and compact. Fairly sure you'll be able to delete installed games once you've done with them... even at 50Gb a pop you'd be able to get 8 or 9 on there at once (allowing for the Operating System to fit on there as well).
Installation won't be manadatory either... you'll be able to play games off disk... they'll just take a little longer to load.
They already said that it just won't be available at launch. It will be out soon after. 500GB is more than enough to hold you over until then.Â

Xbox One does have mandatory game installs.Â
