All great trilogies come in threes?

Maybe developers figure that won't be able to make any money from a franchise after three games. People will lose interest...
Maybe...

People want to try and make as much money as possible off of a series. Not for greed really, but just because it would be the smart choice instead of risking a whole new franchise right after their first big title. Also, 3 seems like a good number rather than 6, 8, 13, and so on. Too many games in a franchise can be risky. This is all just what I'm assuming, but w/e.

Also, Lost Odyssey is a trilogy?

This is how it works:

The first movie/game/book: Its new exciting creative and we never seen this before

The second: bad stuff happens ex. a character dies, a villain comes back etc.

the third: the climatic final battle of the story

LOTR did this, star wars did this, and halo is doing this. Its just how it works kinda.

never heard that, and never heard mass effect was a trilogy. And Gears hasn't been announced a trilogy yet.
